The Xbox 360 doesn't even exist in Japan and if you've read the news the Wii had an 6:1 advantage over the PS3 n every month that they have sold as of November with the price cut to $399 it's now a 2:1 advantage in monthly sales.

Well richiro33, if you do save up the money to go I can't recommend Kyushu enough. It's the largest southern island, and they have flights from Narita so it's easy to get to. It's big enough (50 miles wide by about 100 miles long I'd say) that it would take you months to explore. Unfortunately we stayed only a few days, but what I saw of the rural country side was incredible. I mean "pinch yourself to see if you're awake" amazing. It's like semi-tropical, with rice terraces surrounded by traditional Japanese architecture and immaculate gardens everywhere. It was like eden. If ever hi-def gets that good, I'd lock myself indoors forever!

BTW, you might find it comforting that it was likely most people we encountered in that rural setting had never seen a game console before, let alone owned one. In some strange way, I envy them.

I didnt say anything about ps3 vs. 360 in Japan. Its basically sony vs. nintendo there. Let me dumb it down a lil more for you. ps3 game sales < ps2 game sales

Has it ever occured to you that the PS2 been out for 7 yrs. I think that translate into more PS2's than PS3's I really don't think 2 yrs of the PS3 on the market equates to 7 yrs and over 25 million units of the PS2 in Japan only. You cant make that argument because the PS3 doesn't have over 25 million units in Japan. Let me dumb it down for you. If I had 10 people with PS3's and 100 people with PS2's which one do you think would get more software sales?

The PS3 has only been in the American market for a little over 1 year (not 2), and about 9 months for the rest of the world. Of course a year ago today, they were selling for like $1,500 on eBay!

The Playstaion 2 is the best selling video game console ever, there is still a market for it. Last I recall they stop making games for the 1st XBOX and Gamecube. Can't buy something they don't make anymore. So of course they are going to sell more than the previous generation. From inception til March 07' there were 117 million PS2's sold world wide. And SONY still makes the PS2.

I think a valid point is that even the Japanese, who are pretty quick to adopt new tech and discard the old, are still more beholden to the PS2.

And I really tire of the whole "how many 360's have you owned?" Yeah, they screwed up. I won't cover for MS on that. But how many PS2's have you owned that burned out or stopped reading disks or generally died long before they should. How long did it take Sony to cough up free repairs before they were warned of possible class action lawsuits?

Both formats made mistakes. But MS was a lot faster to fix the issue.

I expect the numbers will be closer next year, but even then Sony dosent have THAT many games that are must-owns exclusive to it.
