For those of you who are into Blade Runner, but not that much , Best Buy has the 2-disc special edition at $12.99 on its weekly ad...

First, that is a great price to upgrade any other version of the movie, but the price is great (compared at Circuit City at $14.99). Think about it, when was the last time we got a good 2-disc special edition from Warner at less than $15?? Or any other company for that matter?

Blade Runner 2-disc is a must for fans of the movie, the briefcase is for die-hard fans (thou it's very, very, VERY tempting).

I agree with what you say. However, it is a good movie. I think that just cuz it's sci-fi, it means lasers and explosions and chasing across the universe...but this movie is good, specially with the question of Deckard being a replicant...or not?

Amazon has it also at the same price, and the five-disc collection (no briefcase) on either HD DVD or Blu-ray comes at $27.95 at Amazon, and $34.99 in Best Buy...

Which to buy???

I'm getting the Complete Collector's Edition on Blu-ray tomorrow. So if anyone is interested in my non-anomorphic 1997 version, I'm selling it for 3 bucks

After suffering that old terrible transfer for so many years, I think I'm going to faint when I watch this again tomorrow!

I thought it was a great movie. It touched on some interesting topics and made you think about what "humanity" meant, about death and aging, etc. in a movie where the robots were more human than the humans.

Deckard:
Quote:
"All he'd wanted was the same answers the rest of us want. Where do I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got?"

And who can forget:
Quote:
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain. Time to die."

That is the stuff of classics!

Hey as silly as it sounds, this has been one of my most anticipated releases of the year - if not "THE". I've been counting down the months, weeks, days... now I'm into hours. Tomorrow!!!!

I'll be picking up Stardust on HD DVD, for the wife of course? Or is it to just even out my Blu and HD buying week? Naw... I figured I'll spring for it after I read John's excellent review on it. Besides, the whole family can enjoy this, while everyone else in this house can't figure why Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies either

I think whether or not you like Bladerunner depends on the type of movie watcher you are. If you enjoy going back and watching something over and dissecting it. The Bladerunner will appeal to you because it's a movie that benefits from multiple viewings. Actually in a Science Fiction Literature class I took, our professor made us watch it twice to see if we could notice more things the second time around.

I'm actually pretty interested in the HD version because there are lots of things to picked apart in the background. Unfortunately the piss-poor transfers the movie has received up until now have made that hard.

Just saw the HD version of THIS MASTERPIECE.... you can only do so much with the visuals given its production date of the early 80's. So-so in the HD transfer.

As for the soundtrack.... TRULY STUNNING. I would like to watch the HD VERSION of this movie, in a Samsung 120hz led 52-inch set. It would reduce the motion blur DRAMATICALLY.

Oh man, the soundtrack to this film is one of the all-time GREATEST! I listen to it constantly, home/work (iTunes) etc. Vangelis is a genius!

I'm buying the HD-DVD version [already on pre-order], but I'm also going to buy the standard DVD remastered version for my collection, especially with the low price of $12.99 at BBuy. And for $22.99, Amazon has the 4-disc standard DVD collector's edition too.
