Being a big fan of LOTR it is hard not to be pleased about this news. It seems that it is not certain that Peter will direct but I surly hope so.

Again, Great News

That's much better news than reading something about the format war.

Yes, it is nice for a change.

The book is really amazing and should make a great film.

The casting will be exciting to see. Will Ian McKellen return as Gandalf? What about Ian Holm? Will he be to old to play a younger Bilbo?

Is there any need to make 'The Hobbit' into TWO movies?? Other than just trying to make as much cash off one book as possible, shouldn't the book fit into a three hour movie like the other ones?

It just looks to me like they're going for one last hurrah and getting greedy.

Peter Jackson loves long movies and for the most part he does them justice.

However, if I remember the book correctly it should have material to two movies. Perhaps not 3 hours a piece but surly 2 x 2.

I agree. All the Lord of the Rings movies were fantastically made. I hope he can do the same with The Hobbit.

"The Hobbit" is a much shorter and simpler book than the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and should fit nicely into a single, two-hour time span. I believe, though, that the article says Jackson will make "The Hobbit" and a sequel to "The Hobbit." I just wonder what "sequel" to "The Hobbit" they're referring to: "The Silmarillion," the recent "Children of Hurin," or any of the many volumes of tales edited by the author's son after Tolkien's death? Or maybe something brand new? Who knows?

I would love to know who are they looking for as far as the cast. Also Falcon I understand that Christian Bayle is doing to the Terminator movie as well, hell play an older John Conner.
