Dark City should definitely be released on HD. It may not have been intended for it, but look how amazing it looks.
Also, Casshern. It is, to me, one of the most visually stunning movies but is sadly overlooked.

I've always HOPED that someday... Alex Proyas would do a Batman movie. His vision can be easily applied to the the Dark Knight.

It's certainly not overlooked by me. Dark City is one of my favorite sci-fi films in the past 100-years. I'm not much of a fan of Rodger Ebert but it was his #1 pick the year it was released. That was one of the few times I could agree with the Hollywood suck-up. Nevertheless, it is a far more entertaining film than that boring old Blade Runner.

I recently received Casshern from Netflix... great flick. I agree that it would look fabulous in HD.

1998: Rufus Sewell, William Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Connelly. Fascinating fantasy premise, good CGI, late 1920s "Metropolis" type sci-fi, loaded with colorful characters, and a dark, 1940s noir mysery atmosphere.

Well there is hope for it on HD. For a while now Alex Proyas has been working on a director's cut of this film. Ebert let that news slip a few years back. way before it was actually in motion. but on Proyas's forum he said it was in the works but nothing concrete for a release date yet. next to a few more scenes and redone visual effects (im hoping he gets to redo the ending thats bugged him for years) its also supposed to have new behind the scenes stuff and new commentaries.
but as for right now thats all hearsay as there is no concrete evidence its coming. just rumors. but like blade runner if this is in the works i would think that they would release all formats at the same time. then again it is a new line film and theyre not in the new formats yet.

Well, NEW LINE CINEMA is definitely into hi-def discs now, with the recent releases of PAN'S LABYRINTH, RUSH HOUR 3, and HAIRSPRAY.

wow don't i feel dumb now. i didn't even stop to think about it. but i remember an article about new line not wanting to get into it until there was a clear cut winner or something. either they changed their minds or i am fabricating news up in my own mind. but thanks for correcting me.
