This is also for movie reviewers like John, what is everyones movie rituals before and during the movie. The must haves and the have not's. For me it's no phones and kids, plenty to drink and sandwiches. No popcorn, the smell invites trouble. Post your favorite movie rituals, foods and drinks. Who knows I might have to try yours if it sounds good.

It really depends. If I'm seeing a movie in the Theater then yeah... no kids, cell's, or idiots. If I'm at home then it's... Just me in my bedroom with the lights off. Maybe I'll have a sandwich or a pop... or a girlfriend.

Turn on Projector. Turn on receiver, player and sub. Let warm up for minimum 20 minutes with a HD channel. Light fire in fireplace. put kids to bed unless watching a kids movie. Get snacks ready (some fruit, whole wheat crust pizza, Sushi takeout, chips, sandwiches or toast. Water to drink). Get blanket, lights off, feet up, remotes onto back of couch and ON WITH THE SHOW!!!!

If it's at a theater, first, I try to make it a matinee, late morning or early afternoon on a weekday. Prices are down and kids are usually at school (except during the summer, darn it). In the second or third week of a movie's run, a friend and I usually have the theater to ourselves. I've always tried to get there ten or fifteen minutes early, which is when I eat my popcorn. Oddly enough, I've always enjoyed popcorn before a movie, not during it.

If I'm at home, all bets are off. It's whenever I can wrest the TV away from my wife or when she's away, unless she's upstairs watching the little TV in the bedroom. At home, it's couch-potato time with snacks and frequent refrigerator, bathroom, and computer trips. More frequent if the film is really bad. Some two-hour films take me four or five hours to watch because I get so bored I have to just walk around a lot.

For a theatre run it has to be stadium seating style, no cell phones, talking, kids (especially infants and groups of giddy teenagers), kicking my seat, people showing up late and various other distracting sounds. You'd think after all these years they would have invented the silent popcorn & candy bag. The Harkins Theatres in my neck of the woods actually has a baby sitting room for drop off of small children. Plus, the newest one they've built in the San-Tan area blocks cell phone signals in the room. Like John, I too go in the morning or early afternoon and undoubtedly prefer a smaller crowd, thus when a major blockbuster is released, I usually wait a few weeks before going.

At home its anything goes. I usually burn some candles, smoke a good cigar and have a couple ice cold Stella's before viewing. Then during the show I lay there like Jabba the Hut felling like a Greek God with my remote control in hand.

Well since my daughter is 8 years old, when I do venture into the theater it is to see movies on her level and um my level also LOL (no Alvin and The Chipmunks thats a Mommy daughter movie) But I to take in a matinee due to the overbloated prices. But my main ritual, I must sit in the very last row dead center or what I like to call the 50 yard line of movieplex seating. This way I have no one behind me, either talking in my ear or kneeing me in the back. Plus it seems that all the SCREENAGERS (yes I coined that name for the youth of today) like to sit way down front. I mostly wait until they arrive on DVD, so I can enjoy the movie in my home theater. Yes there are some movies that you must see on the big screen, but most of the time I watch from home.

I haven't been to a theatre in forever so when I watch a movie at home it's usually after 9 pm when the kids are asleep. I hit press the button on the Harmony remote to fire up all the equipment, while all of that is loading up I start making some tea, make a sandwich or some other kind of snack to drink with the tea, turn the lights off and away I go.

Only problem is I can't really crank up the system at that hour but still, at least I have peace and quiet

Tim, I've misjudged you in the past. You're officially invited over to our place for a night of movies. Don't forget to bring the Stella's. I might even allow you to hold the remote (for awhile)

Falcon,

That's funny because last night about 1:30 am. EST I ordered Pirates 3 from OnDemand HD, and during the movie an overwelming urge to crank up the volume came over me. But I couldn't so today while everyone is out shopping (I was the smart one and did it all around the first of the month from AMAZON.), I will turn up the volume. OMG this movie is a must have if only just to figure out who is double crossing who.

If I go to the teather I usualy go to the afternoon screenings, which here is not the last screening of the day ,so there is not much people and no problems with asking for a good seat.

As for home screenings it depends . If it is a weekday ( love to watch a movie thursdays and fridays night - , some ) my wife and daughter are going to bed arround 10pm , I turn off the light , put the AV receiver on midnight mode and enjoy.
If a weekend I watch ussualy one film early afternoon , put the curtains down , make a theater atmosphere , some beer , usually a neighbor comes .
After that I go out , take the wife and kid from the mall, turn back the movie, and rent another one for the night. (of course if we didn't arranged in advance , going out with a friends).
