I have a question?
What you guys think of the Samsung LCD? im thinking about buying one and wasn't sure if i was purchasing a nice qaulity LCD.. these are the features that it supposedly has
720p (1366 x 768) resolution
• NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuners
• Widescreen (16:9)
• 7000:1 contrast ratio
• 3 HDMI inputs
• PC input
and its on sale for $729.. i am kind of new to this HD thing and just needed assistance with purchasing the right LCD.

Vaseline, you don't mention what the screen size is in your specs above, nor the fact that several lower-priced 1080p models [higher resolution] are now available from not only Samsung, but from others such as Sharp, JVC, and Toshiba - all 3 of which I personally consider to offer better overall quality and image processing than Samsung. My two cents.

$800 - well that price point is going to be a little difficult to beat, but if you have a FRY'S ELECTRONICS nearby [located mainly in California and Texas], you can find the lowest-priced quality models at retail. Also online of course.
Recently, Fry's has offered the 42" 720p JVC LCD for $999, and this is an excellent HDTV. JVC provides a high-quality processing chip [GENESSA] that is one of the few that passes 1080i HD-deinterlacing lab tests from film signals (movies) on DVD (or hi-def disc), etc [where other models, like those from Vizio fail]. Also consider quality LCD HDTV displays from Sharp and Toshiba, who also offer a few models at 42" in the $999 to $1299 price range. Panasonic also makes a very good quality 32" 720p LCD HDTV for under $999.
But at $800, the Samsung model you listed will be hard to beat, if your budget is limited. If you can move your spending price a little more higher, I highly recommend one of the 42" (or larger) screens from those companies mentioned above. You will certainly appreciate the additional amount of screen when viewing letterboxed/anamorphic 16x9 movies, especially those shot in ratios wider than 1.85:1 [w/black bars at the top/bottom of the image, like popular movie ratios such as 2.35:1 or 2.40:1, etc].
By the way, I don't know of any name-brand 1080p LCDs for $800 or less, unless used/demo models on clearance. You could try costco.com's website (membership not required for online orders, major credit cards accepted), and view their sale-priced LCD TVs, both in 720p and 1080p.
Hope this helps.
