Ok, the first movie that I saw in HD was Chicken Little. I was in Best Buy and they had a Blu ray player hooked up to a 50 inch plasma. Now that I've taken the plung into the HD pool with the PS3 and a 57 inch 1080p DLP, I bought The 5th Element on Blu ray as one of my first titles. I was all ready for all the eye candy that's in the movie. When I got home and poped it in, I was somewhat dissapointed. the movie only looked slightly better than the DVD version, IMHO. Then I went online and read the reviews for this Blu ray and I found out that I wasn't the only one not satisfied with the Blu ray.

After about 5 months of never watching the film again, I was reading online that Sony was remastering the Blu ray and offering an exchange program for anyone who bought the first (MPEG-2) version. So I sent it off about the beginning of December and it finally came today. I was skeptical about any improvements over the previous version but about 2 minutes into the film I became truely impressed. Images, colors, and sound were all improved. This new MPEG-4 Dolby TrueHD version maybe the best HD movie that I've ever seen from any studio. This is now my new show off movie to any friends and family interested in taking the HD plung. My question to anyone with Blu ray or HDDVD, what's the best movie that you have ever seen in HD?

I got Sahara on HD DVD over the holidays and it is amazingly clear. Other than that I liked Batman Begins, Corpse Bride (animation always looks stunning in hidef for both formats), 2001 (gorgeous picture quality), TMNT, Flags of our Fathers, Letters From Iwo Jima and I'm sure there are others I can't think of.

CORPSE BRIDE
BLOOD DIAMOND
THE MATRIX
Legacy title: FORBIDDEN PLANET
Legacy title: THE SEARCHERS
Legacy title: CASABLANCA
Legacy title: BLADE RUNNER

Sorry, I haven't viewed TRANSFORMERS yet, but will soon.

- Blu-ray format -
APOCALYPTO
CARS
RATATOUILLE
PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: Dean Man's Chest
TEARS OF THE SUN
KINGDOM OF HEAVEN: Director's Cut
GHOST RIDER
CASINO ROYALE

Legacy title: 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH

Sorry, I haven't viewed 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY yet (for either format), but will soon. It's supposed to be one of the best HD presentations ever done (to date). And so many I've purchased the past 4-5 weeks during the great discount sales, well obviously I haven't had time to watch that many yet.
