I liked it a lot, but I thought that there should have been fewer action scenes or set pieces and more time devoted to developing the characters. Some important peeps, like the photographer kid and Ginny Weasley, were under-represented when it came to running time. However, when the Quidditch game and the core triangular relationship is done so well, I guess I should not complain much. [:)]
By the way, I think that there might be a love triangle in the future involving Harry, Ron, and Hermione, one that will lead to (at least temporarily) a break in their friendship. However, if Harry and Ginny get together and if Ron and Hermione are a couple, then they'd all be family anyway. Heehee. [:)]

I liked Potter 2 also, but perhaps a tad less than I liked the first installment. I enjoyed watching the introduction of Harry to his new environment in the first movie, whereas here the novelist and filmmakers have simply to give him something to do. Potter 2 seemed more diffuse than the first film, with too little plot and too many scenes that were included apparently because they looked good. Nonetheless, the film DOES look good, and there is a new visual surprise around every corner, which counts for a lot.
In addition, I enjoyed sharing the Potter experience with many of my friends at DVDTown, literally sharing, because Eddie and I and Henning and Jesper and Michael and the Wife-O-Meter all went to the show together. It was great meeting these folks, most of them in-person for the very first time. I feel very privileged working with all of them at the site.

I especially liked having that lady behind us clapping her hands every time she recognized something from the book that made it to the big screen. [:)]

I agree with Jonh. I liked the first one more. I think it is because that the whole Potter universe was new (I have not read the books) and exciting. In Potter 2 a lot of the action and effects really is not that impressive because you have already seen alot of it in the first film. Also I found the story to weak and the ending a bit anti-climatic(ehm is that a word in english?) and understated.

Per, don't worry, it's the way the stories are supposed to be. The next books are very, very dark and even disturbing.

Ok... maybe they should let David Fincher direct the next one then ;?

David Fincher? What a great idea! But actually, as you know, it's Alfonso Cuaron taking over from Chris Columbus. Cuaron is the guy who did both Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN and A LITTLE PRINCESS, so the next Potter ought to be very interesting, indeed.

Sounds like the next Potter films could be R rated?
I like the new one and really am having a difficult time comparing the two, so far. I know the first one has that wonderful sense of discovery but as far as entertainment goes...how the hell can you guys tell the difference?
I am confussed, constricted, baffled, lost, and I just can't decide! So, needless to say, the two installments rank even for me...sorry I just couldn't find more to pick apart about the new one but I have to admit I was well entertained.

Actually, Warner was concerned that HP2 would get a PG-13 rating. The Quidditch game (much better than the one in HP1!!!) was almost like a battle, like John said, and the scenes with the spiders and the basilisk were really intense. Given how dark the next books are, the next movies could well be rated PG-13.
