Hey, I'm looking forward to this! I want. And I'm glad to hear Sony has finally announced a new release date, even though it's over 3 months away. My expectations are high for this transfer. Sony better live up to them, or I'll cry.

Gattaca had a great story. It could have been a better film.

They spent to much to market the film, this allowed the viewes a great let down.

Sonys last few releases on Blu-ray have been a let down, I think they are trying to market the format and in turn we have a soft transfer of the film.

I disagree. Particularly within the last 6 to 8 months, Sony has put out consistently good catalog transfers. I figured they were probably learning something from Disney. This being the case, I highly doubt "Gattaca" will be soft. Also consider it was a good DVD transfer also to begin with.

As for the movie Gattaca, I enjoyed it very much, and my DVD edition got well used. It's not the popcorn fare filled with explosions and Megan Fox bending over car hoods it's a real film IMO and one of my top 10 or so sci-fi movies of all time. I'm looking forward to buying this Blu-ray title and retiring my old (but well played) standard DVD edition.

I agree, Blu-ray has begun to put out titles that look as HD Disc should.

I just think that Sony has been hit and miss. Sony has to push Blu ray, the other studios can focus funds on the quality of each release. I think Sony may choose which titles to lets say “Invest” into (Bond, Spiderman). Disney is the strong one with great release time after time.

Back to the film we are discussing. I love all film, popcorn or not! I agree that this is a good film, it just had the potential to be better. This would have made a much longer run time and may be why the director did not explore a little development. Most likely I will pick up a copy upon release, I am more excited about others to be released this coming year.

kucoloco, if you liked Blade Runner you will like this one IMO. It's more cerebral than most other sci-fi's and to be honest, I wish I was like you and had never seen it before (I've watched it at least 6 times since it's debut in the theater). This is a treat (for mainstream Hollywood). This movie is one of the reasons why I don't pound Hollywood movies into the ground, because occasionally they do release some really good films. This is one of them.

Blade Runner will go down in history never to be outdone as the greatest Sci-Fi film of all time. Im just not sure its correct to compare the two ( If you like one, You will like the other).

The Story in Blade Runner was more rounded.

Blade Runner falt-out sucked! I've had naps that are more delightful! Blade Runner has to be the most pathetically boring (bleep) piece of (bleep) that has even been put on the face of the (bleep)ing earth!

There! That feels better!

Hell, I'd take Gattaca over Blade Runner any day of the week.
