What's the debate now? PS3 versus X360? (*sigh)
I'm working in the videogame industry, and for all PS3 fanboys, sorry but the PS3 is not a "pure" gaming machine, on a technical view. The X360 is a less powerful machine than the PS3 on the mathematical side and pure power. But, the PS3 biggest problem is the lack of memory (best example is for displayed textures). I won't go in extreme technical details, but the lack of memory for display have a big impact on the framerate and textures quality.
If you want an example, juste compare the same game on the PS3 and X360, and you'll see the difference in textures. It's not a lack of comprehension of the architecture, it's simply because we had to drop the quality to accomodate the capabilities of the PS3.
But PS3 is a not a "bad" console. It's a very powerful console, more than the X360. But bad decisions made this machine difficult to work with. The best move, in my opinion, was to include a Blu-Ray player. Sony decided to bet "all in" with this combo and it seems to pay off now.

I'm still waiting for somebody to post a great blu-ray deal around $200-$250(if they'll even exist anymore). Sure the format war is probably over, but the consumer really is the one who'll lose out. The war drove down hardware prices and led to many BOGO sales. Once Blu wins.... why would they cut prices or initiate BOGOs?

I am no game geek like you it seems, but the Wii is way more fun than just sitting there on your lump, eatting a can of pringles and a 2 liter bottle of coke while you get thumb cramps playing Halo or any other shooter or role playing game. Just look at the numbers and then tell me if I am wrong?
