I am currently running a Toshiba A-35 HD DVD payer to a Denon receiver through the 6 analogue output wires. If I were to add a BD player also through the analogue outputs on that machine, what would be a good switching box to use, active or inactive? I know that there was some discussion on this topic here a year or so ago, but that thread is long gone. Somebody on the DVD Town staff (John maybe?) recommended a product but I don't recall the brand. I know the easiest way to do this would be to buy a new 7.1 receiver with hdmi but I have to spread out my purchases and live with the analogues for a while.

I think any component video switcher will work. Try this
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10112&cs_id=1011201&p_id=3027&seq=1&format=2
The component inputs will just pass on any signal whether it's video or audio.

Steve,
You'll need more than the switchbox Movielover suggests, which only handles four inputs. You'll need a full-fledged multichannel audio-video switchbox capable of at least twelve analogue audio inputs (six from each player) and at least six outs to the receiver.
You might consider the Zektor MAS7.1, which does this and more. Not only does it switch amongst three separate 7.1 inputs (twenty-four inputs in all) and send them out through eight more, it also switches amongst three HDMI connections for audio and/or video. However, the thing is expensive, almost as much as a new receiver. But it seems to be the best there is at the moment.
