I think the average consumer will be confused by the studios switching sides and they most likely decide against purchasing a BD or HD player because there is no clear option. I think both formats will see a major dip in sales! Not only because of the after Christmas slowdown BUT BECAUSE OF THE CONFUSION!

Any Thoughts?

with the majority of studios going blu (paramount included) the choice to consumers is much clearer.

Exactly. Fast-forward 11 months to the 2008 holiday sales season... I doubt you will see HD-DVD stand alone players much (if at all) - it'll be all Blu for hi-def disc. However, the mighty DVD format will remain #1 and dominant for many, many years to come. Blu-ray has a much bigger battle to fight (against DVD), than the "skirmish" it had with HD-DVD.
