This is on IMDB.com today...
Comcast Chairman/CEO Brian Roberts surprised attendees of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Tuesday by unveiling a new cable modem capable of downloading a two-hour movie in high definition in just four minutes. The same film would take more than six hours to download via a high-speed DSL modem, he said, or seven days via a dial-up modem. Roberts said that he expects millions of the modems to be delivered to Comcast subscribers by the end of the year.
Screw bluray

That's good, but will you own it. And if your HDD crashes do you have to buy it again. Will I get a nose bleed when I open my cable bill. NO THANK YOU, I'll keep my discs.

I'm assuming that if they want this to be mainstream you will have an account with a record of all the movies you have paid for. That way if you lose it you can download it again.

EXACTLY! Give me the physical disk for sales and rentals over all of the "problematic side effects" for HD streaming/downloads. As for the monthly bills, many complain of the over charges they often get from their cell phone carrier, satellite service, etc. I won't be supporting streaming/downloading in HD.

Love Hendrix, my cable bill is already $160 per month, this modem would probably add at least $10 more to my bill. I don't want to give the cable company another $120 per year. That could be 5 Blu ray movies that I don't have to worry about losing to HDD failure.

Tony you do realize that bluray movies will no longer be in the $20 range right? Also, I think it's safe to say that BOGO sales are going to be a thing of the past unless someone is trying to get rid of their HD DVD inventory.

I don't know Falcon, I think they will be around 25. At the end of the year if you're right and you decide to buy a Blu ray player, I'll buy you a movie of your choice.
(BOGOS not included)
