SPOILER WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS THREAD AND ANY POSTS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE

Has anyone seen "I AM LEGEND". Because there's a part in the movie where Will Smith sees Fred the mannequin in another part of New York. I first thought that he put it there and just forgot about the trap that he set, but then I began to wonder if the vampires set the trap to capture him. There has been a debate over this with my friends, I just wanted to know if anyone here has seen it and what's their opinion.

IMO. It was a trap set by the "Smart" vampire.

Great film by the way. Loved the ending.

Henning,

I originally thought that he was losing his mind and forgot he sat the trap. Yes, it was a great movie. My Favorite part was when he explained to Hanna about the kill rate for KV and what happened after the virus hit the population and those who survived 600 million that survived 12 million were immune and the other 588 million turn into "DARK SEEKERS" and feed on the 12 million. I was like WOW!!!

I thought it was a great movie also but a co-worker of mine thought it was dumb and unrealistic. I don't get people sometimes.

I never once thought Will Smith set the trap. He looked pretty surprised by it all.

I went back and forth on it. Will Smith was always shown to be smart and mentally together throughout the film, so I don't buy that he forgot about the trap. I also thought Anna could have set it, but THAT doesn't make any sense either. So it had to be the infected. Which either shows there are different levels of intelligence within the infected OR the intelligence is developed over time.

Provactive idea that was never really explored. Still a good movie.

I also thought it was cool that the "Lead" vampire had two infected pits.

Great movie, alot of people think it was bad because alot of people these days just want to watch feel good--- all the action they espect kind of flick. They dont slow down to apreciate a good movie.

--Back on topic, the Main Infected baddie clearly set the trap. and waited till it was dark, peaking through the hole.--

Yes, it was a trap, otherwise the scene makes no sense.

Adequate action movie until the obligatory idiotic ending that not only ruins any good the film does, but metaphorically burns the book it was based on, shoots the author in the back of the head, and pisses on his grave.

I think that moment was supposed to be in opposition to the observations Robert Neville had just made about the Darkseekers, that they were only able to act on a instinctual level. Clearly the Alpha Dark Seeker was able to retain some of his human ingenuity to not only set the same Trap Neville had but also use the Fred dummy which was important to him as bait.

The main vamp obviously set the trap. I thought this was the climax of the film for me. It was extremely disappointing that Will did not acknowledge the fact that the infected were getting smarter. At one point he said they were getting dumber. Instead of playing on Will Smith vs. super vampire, which woulda been bad-ass, they went uber hollywood and tacked on a survivor ending.
