Was in Sams Club today and walked by the aisle with DVD players. WOW BluRay $377.00 Hd DVD $128.87

Joe consumer says save $250.00 Heck yeah. The HD A3 at sams is only $129 and comes with 2 movies and and HDMI cable, thats a hell of a deal. Thats pretty much worth buying just to play standard DVD library on. YEah yeah yeah I know the Bluray guys are like what good will it do if there are no HD movies to play it on so dont bother posting the Bluray hype on this thread.

Of course Sony has a ginormous Bluray display running on another area touting how great it is, I think I heard some subliminals in it though, "Buy Sony BluRay or die".

Lets hope Toshiba can pull a few studios to nuetral at least to make this a true fight again. For those of you who want Bluray to win, let me ask this question. What happened to the BOGOs last week at Best buy? Looks like Bluray expects to win so is charging full price for movies again.

We always have sony reps in there. Yesterday some asian guy was buyn a hddvd player and the sony rep grabed him and walked him over to the blu ray display, and talked to him about how good blu ray was, but he ended up getn the hd dvd player. I thik when he sall the cost of the blu gay player he was like hell no lol

Wow are you serious? Doesn't seem very professional to me.

I went to Fry's the other night and they had the Blu-Ray display with a 42in Sony TV and Blu-Ray player on the movie side which looked cool. I started looking around for the HD DVD display and it was about 250ft away in the TV section. Sadly the screen for the HD-DVD was not working and I not sure if Fry's is going to do anything about it because it's been like that for 2 days.

If Toshiba actually fought this war properly, it's be different. Sony hires people to lie, cheat, and steal for their format sales. Toshiba is playing it the Buddhist way, but that gets you nowhere.

If some salesperson steered me toward the Blu display....well, that'd be mighty interesting.

To Sony's credit, at least they've kept the raping, pillaging, and burning down to a minimum.

The thing that continues to BEDAZZLE me , is that I am still reading on many other sites about how there are more and more problems with the Blu Ray stand alone players and the movies themselves. Now I say to myself, "Self, why would any studio or consumer invest in a format that continues to have many faults?" I know most of you Blu fans as well as the HD/Blu fans say that the PS3 is an ok player. IT IS A GAME CONSOLE PERIOD! I have said this a GAZILLION times before, if you like video games you buy a game console. But if you are a movie nut you don't buy a game console so you can watch movies that makes no sense at all.

Toshiba is like my buddy from highschool who was the 'nice guy' to a fault. He got more action from his GI Joe action figures then he ever saw from the opposite sex. Bottom line...nice guys finish last. Toshiba should have nutted up and grabbed the bull by the horns, now it is probably too late.

Meanwhile Sony (you know, the rich dick with the nice car while you drove the Pinto) is taking the blue eyed big boobed blonde to the prom.

seems like Toshiba needs to start sending people to the stores and setting up better displays.

So that's where the name comes from.

I've got the 37" Magnavox, and I couldn't be happier.

The problem with the HD DVD display is that they always seem to be pushed back into the darkness where you've got to go find them, while you can see the Blu-ray displays from the distance as soon as you walk in the door. It's been that way from day one.

Blu-ray is hooked up to the Bose surround system with a leather sofa and massage chair sitting in front of it in the middle of the walkway of the store.

HD DVD is facing the back of the store with a dusty plastic display hooked up by means of stereo speakers...and of course you've got to stand on the cold, hard floor with your eye-level two feet higher than the display.
