It's great that it's coming out on HD DVD, but I'm still wondering why WB is even bothering. I mean, if they broke contracts to drop HD DVD in the first place and they think going to one unified format is best, why are they continuing to release titles for a few months? It's not making things easier that's for sure.

Hoodaguy, I'm anxiously awaiting for you or anyone else to provide PROOF that Warner "broke contracts to drop HD DVD". You speak as it you're an insider to knowledge of contract terms between the various entities. Quit gossiping and provide FACTS to support your FUD opinion.
As I said on another thread... by the end of May 2008 Warner will have completed a full 2 years of supporting HD-DVD with releases. This is possibly all that they committed too back in 2006. Unlike hoodaguy, I don't know the legal details [contract terms etc], so I'm speculating here when I now say: starting in June 2008, WB no longer has to support HD-DVD, since their contract may have ended.
But if you know otherwise, I'd like to see the info.

So Tim, is that what Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson are up to now that the nfl is no longer a distraction to their relationship?
Has anyone who emailed WB execs about their recent blu-ray decision received a response yet? I'm just curious.

Kind of a smart response. My wife just walked in the room and read your comment. She just told me "you nerds really fight on this site". I never said in my post that the response was related to a negative email sent to WB. There are some blu-ray supporters that I'm sure sent emails as well. Did they get a response? I'd like to know.
Too bad Tim that us "nerds" just can't get along huh. I could respond with a likewise rude comment but I'm too old for it. Oh and I have a life too. I'm going to spend time with my wife right now. Have fun continuing to insult people through the mighty computer screen.

Hmm, I am new here, but I thought EVERYONE knew about WB dropping HD, just as Paramount is looking at BR authoring facilities, I could have sworn that was posted on several DVD review sites. maybe I'm wrong but, I did not think so.
Heck, I have a PS3 and all I buy is BR now. I have an HD Drive for my XBOX and have maybe 4 titles, (King Kong came with the unit) but Blu Ray, I have 17 already, in just a few weeks of owning the PS3. Dawn of the Dead never looked BETTER!!!

Going back to the WB subject, they might still be binded by contract until May, but they are sure as hell sabotaging HD-DVD by doing these 2 to 3 week delayed releases. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm considering doing some sabotaging of my own by not buying WB movies at all after the June 08 mark.

Of course and they should (BD users), WB claims to know what the consumer wants. I know what I want as a consumer, ) . About the answer from the WB (if really in such context) is not surprising for them to be rude to the consumer like that after all, they have "160 million reasons" to be rude. lol. Let's be realistic here, it is hypocritical for all companies (WB, Paramount, etc.) to claim to make desitions based on what the "consumer wants" when in reality they are making up their mind based on bribery and even extorcion (I consider Sony's tactic of shoving down people's throat their format in their console a form of extorcion "if you want my console, you need to buy my new movie format too".).
We, HD-DVD and Blu-ray suppporters should show all these companies what we really want as a consumer and stop buying high def completely until these companies come to an agreement on what format is really "best for the consumer". Of course we know that such radical stand will never happen. This country is so engulfed in comsumisn that the vast majority of consumers would never stop buying a new-shiny product even if their lives depended on it. Life is America is about having the lates, and HD movie format (both) is the latest.

I rent many DVD & hi-def discs (online memberships), so you could take that approach too (to avoid buying any more WB titles for awhile).

90% of the titles I have on HD-DVD are Warner. Boy, do I feel like a schmuck. Well, I'm still supporting HD-DVD, but Warner isn't on my list for any titles after June for any format. Hey, I was a major protester for CBS & the cancellation of Jericho, and it worked. Maybe Warner will feel the pinch in this case, as well.

This has to be by far, the worse release EVER for a major blockbuster...why couldn't they just do seamless branching for the extra 4 min??? The movie is only 100 min!
LAME WARNER. LAME.

Martin Lawrence turns out to be another survivor at which point he and Will Smith shoot up the Darkseekers Bad Boys style all the while making quips and making fun of people's Cuban Ethnicity.

Milla Jovovich shows up in te basement right before Will Smith detonates the grenade and surrounds him and her in a cocoon of psyonic energy protecting both from the explosion. Then both end up hooking up, having kids with psyonic powers and kick all the vampire/sombies' butt Resident Evil style.
But seriously I think the shocking ending will involve either Will Smith and/or his family surviving and meeting up at the end.

How would a happier ending be shocking? It already had a happy Hollywood ending.
Will has stated that its "less commercial".
spoiler
Which makes me think that he, along with the two survivors will be killed, and we won't see the city of humans. Thus, the end of mankind.

If it's any comfort, the theatrical-release ending of "I Am Legend" is basically the same as the ending used in the old Charlton Heston "Omega Man." Does anyone know how the original Richard Matheson novel ended?

Its a little more complicated because the stories leading up to each story's ending aren't the same.
During the book Neville encounters a female that appears to be human (Ruth). Neville eventually does some testing and finds out she's actually infected. She tells him of a group, a new society that have the infection but are able to retain their human-like qualities. She escapes from Neville and warns him they're planning an attack. He decides to stay and ends up being captured. Prior to his execution Ruth gives him some pills to commit suicide.
In the movie Neville ended up being a legend because he sacrificed himself and found a cure for the mutation. The book defines him as a legend from the point of view of the monsters. The same way humans view Dracula as legend. The new society feared him as the one who killed their kind during the day.
