She tells him of a group, a new society that have the infection but are able to retain their human-like qualities. She escapes from Neville and warns him they're planning an attack. He decides to stay and ends up being captured. Prior to his execution Ruth gives him some pills to commit suicide.

In the movie Neville ended up being a legend because he sacrificed himself and found a cure for the mutation. The book defines him as a legend from the point of view of the monsters. The same way humans view Dracula as legend. The new society feared him as the one who killed their kind during the day.

Well, that makes more sense to me now as far as the "I am Legend" title. I was wondering why it was called that. Thank you.
