We all are just victims of corporate America: Just like Paramount did, 20th Century Fox stayed with Blu-Ray after Sony gave them 120 million reasons to stay despite their production disks problems they have with BD. The same was is WB but they keep on denying taking money. The only reason WB went BD is because Fox stayed with BD (and 120 mill). I read WB was ready to go HD-DVD only only IF the HD group could bring Fox too. But we know how that one went. The bottom line, all this companies only care about money and not about the "consumer wants".

Ken Graffeo, EVP of HD strategic marketing, said the studio was "very encouraged" by Toshiba´s recent player price drops and believes it will spur HD DVD software sales, particularly on the new release front. "
Am I the only one who thinks this Universal exec sounds like a moron thinking the players are so important?
NO ONE makes emotional connections with a clunk of metal!
They'll make connections with films that they love. "I want to see Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Spiderman etc... I can't see those on HDDVD? Okay, well, screw your cheap player then. I don't care."
HDDVD holdouts are just annoying now not only for us movie lovers but also for us professionals who want the storage capacity for media.

watch what you say! bluray this. if blu wins that.
Bluray is a pretty solid format, once they work out the playback kinks, and lower the prices. I you really like HD movies, and blu matures... and you still dont acept it just because.. then you got issues.

Let's be honest, in order to stablish a software in the market, you need the hardware to display it. Sony knows did and that is why they enabled the PS3 with a BD player even though they were/are loosing almost $500 a pop. Sony knew that the PS3 would be in high demand due to the PS2 popularity and in reality "forced" the consumer to buy BD movies because they were already getting a BD player along with their console.
My brother in-law told me himself one day while talking about the "format war": "Why am I going to buy a HD-DVD player when I already got a BD player built in on my PS3?" And his reasoning cannot be disputed, I don't blaming at all. But lets admit also that he was never given a opportunity to choose a format, and neither were the other 3.25 million owners of PS3 in America.
The media critics know that the only reason BD survived as a format was because of the PS3. BD would not have survived supported by BD stand-alone players alone. And that's a fact. So that is why the "Universal morons" know how important are the players.
