Skyhawk,

I've made my living playing guitar and teaching for many years until I got into other "artsy"

Hey Skyhawk,

I played the piano for many years until joint pain in my fingers and hands kicked in. I still play every now and then escpecially around Christmas, my sister has a white YAMAHA baby grand and she insist that I play while they sing Christmas songs. But there is a game call Rock Band we should get (you, Kucoloco, and myself) and play different instruments online together in a band.

Movielover, I don't have Portal. I have the others though, but I hate that "steam" thingy!

I'll have to look that one up. Thanks!

Err.. I don't think so Tony

My practice regiment took 6 hours a day of my time when I played professionally. Yeah I was really into it - both university for a few years and performing. I actually won the Toronto Conservatory open competition in classical guitar (at a time when I was doing Tony Iommi licks to just make money! )

I got pretty jaded with the industry though. I still play, but I stopped putting my entire being into it after getting jaded. Guitar used to define me. It doesn't any more.

Skyhawk, one of my favorite LaserDisc concerts is with Spanish classical guitarist ANGEL ROMERO, the late blind pianist GEORGE SHEARING, the late drummer SHELLY MANNE, and bassist BRIAN TORF - in 1981 - performing Claude Bolling’s "Concerto for Classical Guitar and Jazz Piano" at the Ambassador Auditorium, Pasadena, California.

I've owned it since the early 1980s, and really love Angel's playing here.

Oh my goodness, please don't speak of practice. Eventhough I did actually enjoyed playing. My father was a local radio DJ and he always pushed me. I played on a many cd demo for people who had aspirations of becoming an artist, and offers to play in bands but I always used my music as an frustration outlet. I have a 88 key YAMAHA keyboard connected to a ProLogic reciever in the basement and sometimes (when the hands don't hurt) I go down there and play for hours to actually relieve a stressful day. The wife love's Moonlight Sonata.

Sky, i know what you mean, I've take guitar lessons to please my father years ago, He plays the guitar well, and teaches students, but i dont like games because they let me try the real thing, i like games that are fun, and I try to stay away form simulators. Racing. sports etc. guitar hero is just fun, speacially co-op, but i see your point, since you play the guitar. even the guys that made the game, think is weird, after you play the real guitar. --if you enjoy half life. the orange box would be good. I also had it on the pc, you wont regret it.

Tony, the wifi point on the 360 is dumb, wifi is slower than the wire, so i dont care. the online on the ps3 is free, but inferior to the 360 live in many ways. in ps3 you gotta INSTALL GAMES!!!!(i stopped playing on the pc because i was lazy, lol ) cant chat while playing, and could be matched up against better skilled players. ---In the 360 even thou you gotta pay. like 3 bucks a month, that makes people stick to one account, and your ranked better, against people your own skill level. can chat online while (with people on the game, and msg aswell), see alot of details of your friends stats, how often they play, etc.

-you dont wanna give the 360 a chance, because the early ones fail, even though is proven that the elites dont, and the new HDMI premiums. you might like it better than the ps3. lol.

I have a ps3, we should play MK. only thing i play, after trying a few things. lol

Hendrix, it's great that your Spanish guitar experience isn't limited to only Hose Feliciano!

To be honest, the whole "guitar thing" is a bit of a sore point in my life. I figured being really REALLY good would be a guarantee of success and stardom, all those silly ideas that I had since I started playing at about 12 years old. In the end all it did was get me into bands that traveled a lot, led to debt, conflict, and heartache. Teaching classical lessons (at a university and chain of music stores) and being a "studio musician" doing freakin' commercials for various radio station advertising companies was my main income that helped me pay off our equipment loans.

I look back on all those years and think of it as "wasted time" and effort. Yet if our son ever wanted to go the route I did, I would not discourage him. And he is learning guitar now... oh my.
