Are Monster surge protectors worth the price. I see Belkin and a few other brands offering home theater type protectors at a cheaper price.

Is there a difference or should i go with Monster.

Just curious cuz i purchase a monster hdmi cable for 100 bucks and later found out that i could have gotten a 10 dollar one and it would have worked just as good.

Most Monster Stuff is overrated In my Opinion. I'm sure someone on here can give you some technical reasons why their surge protectors aren't worth the money.

Actually, I can testify different. I have a 1600 jule power strip from Monster and it has never been a problem. The only reason that I bought it is because they offered a warranty that if there is damage to any of your electronics using their power strip that they would replace them. But, this is probably the only thing that I recommend from Monster. As MovieLover stated, some of their other products are price over rated.

All Monster products are ridiculously overpriced. Even though their cables are good quality I wait until I see them on sale online somewhere or buy them used off Craigslist.

I purchased a Monster Home Theatre Power Centre (MP HTS1600) during the boxing day sales at Futureshop. It was regularly $399 but on sale it was down to $199. I purchased it for piece of mind and obviously because it was half price. It's basically a glorified surge protector but it does look nice on the home theatre rack The thing is even though I got it for half price I know Futureshop still made a nice profit on the sale.

ya,

i was at compusa today for there going out of business sales and they still had a few and where getting rid of them for 150 bucks ( the 1600 ). The fact that they would replace any component attached tothe protector sold me.

It is a respected product and i got it on a fire sale so its all good...besides all the belkins where sold out.

In my living room I'm running an APC 725 ES. It has plugged into it the following:

65" Mitsubishi 1080 DLP
Dish network Satellite recv
Toshiba HD DVD
Xbox 360

When the power goes out and its has a few times with a bang the unit keeps all running for about 15-20 mins and gives time to shut the stuff down. Its never let me down in the last year and I would take the 89.00 bux I spent on that anytime over the money for monster products!
