So does the alternate version include the alternate ending? Or is the ending going to be viewable as a deleted scene?

Exactely right, that's difference between the two. Blu holds more content on the discs but HD has the internet for web enabled content.

They are scared on what HD DVD viewers would say how much better the HD DVD version would be, and ride it in their faces...

The article now has a line through "it looks as though the HD DVD version will be the one to get shafted as it will just contain the alternate version of the film and the Animated Comic as far as the notes I received state." It now says "the HD DVD and Blu-ray will be identical as far as features go."

I'm pretty sure that Warner Bros. have said that whatever they have announced up until May 31st will be released.

I like the Warner decision to delay the HD DVD 3 weeks from the DVD and Bleu release.

They can't afford a fluke like American Gangster had where an HD DVD release sold better than any of the the other Bleu releases during the same time period.

What would that tell the world about the "Consumers OVERWHELMING Choice of Bleu" in the format war.

Oh right, let's spin that one.

Ummm, yea, the SD DVD version of American Gangster was completely sold out, yea, that's it!!

The HD DVD still had the DVD side that would play in a regular DVD player, so consumers were FORCED into buying the Combo version so they could watch the DVD side.

Right, thats the "Official Reason", now all Bleu Fanboys have a response to that story that an HD DVD outsold all of the Bleu releases.

It was a MISTAKE, in actuality only 4 of the copies sold were purchased by anyone with an HD DVD player, and subsequently, 3 of those 4 HD DVD copies were returned to the store because those people decided to sell their HD DVD players on EBAY in a full panic because the sky was falling...

Err... should we remind you that despite the fact that AG was the biggest release so far this year, Blu-ray still outsold HD DVD 77% to 23%? Or are facts interfering with your continued fanboyism?

Six and a half.

Well maybe almost closer to 7 now that I think about it.

Oh wait, most of the pre-schoolers here can't count that high yet.

Imagine it as I am holding up all the fingers on one hand, and just the MIDDLE one on the other hand.

Well, that sounds about right. And with every subsequent post you just kind of reaffirm that.

Considering bluray has enjoyed most of the studio support from day 1 (because Sony paid them to stay bluray exclusive otherwise HD DVD would have creamed them long ago) this is no surprise. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

BTW I just finished watching The Matrix on HD DVD. It looks and sounds fantastic! For the bluray extremists it has Dolby TrueHD 5.1, Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 English and French, and Spanish 2.0. I have to agree with the review here on dvdtown.com which they gave the whole trilogy a 9/10 video and 10/10 audio.

http://www.dvdtown.com/reviews/matrix-trilogy-the/4674/2

I didn't get to listen to the Dolby TrueHD track since I don't have the receiver to do so yet but the DD+ track is really, really good. Picture is near perfect. I can't wait for the blurayers to get it to see what they think and how it compares. Hopefully they put 12 HD audio tracks for Skyhawk and maybe super-ultra-HD subtitles and a newly created bluray font to take advatage of all that bandwidth.

Oh no wait, bluray supporters don't care about added features and all that stuff right? It's only about the movie itself with you guys, I forgot.

LOL. That's only the stance until BD-Live becomes the Blu standard, then you'll see Blu fanboy posts saying how important Blu's features are.

Even with that "extra" support, the number of Blu-ray titles released compared to HD DVD weren't that far apart until recently. So I'm not sure what your point is here. And heck, most of you format fanboys have been saying how only the good movies you like were on HD DVD anyway!

Yes it does, although I could have done without even the minor edge enhancement. Is this the first time you've seen it on HD? I figured by your posting that you were one of the ol'HD DVD fanboy folk who paid over $500 for their player like so many of us. Any hoot, there are even better transfers than this on HD DVD (and movies too), although the original Matrix is certainly a good one.

And it seems the majority of the HD DVD fanboys who criticize Blu-ray because of the lack of 2.0 Web features do not have their HD DVD player connected to the Internet anyway.

I know I won't, and I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of Blu-ray owners don't either. That's why I didn't mind spending a couple of hundred dollars for my Philips stand-alone about a year ago. I knew that I could watch my movies with great audio and video quality, and that I could access most of the special features of each and every movie, so I was fine with that. I also knew, that I would buy several more players and pc drives in the near future (all profile 2.0) that will all be able to play every feature of every disc, so this is another pointless argument.
