I have decided to release a little zombie mayhem footage from my forth coming film, Trapped, tonight, the clip is only 9 seconds, but will give you an idea of how intense I am making this compared to my first film Deadlands: The Rising. The Trailer for Deadlands: The Rising is the second link.

Gary, I just -now- noticed you gave the answer about the "big spring announcement" (from last night). Well... how is Toshiba going dual-format going to help HD-DVD survive? Is it going to sold at a higher price, like the LG model from January 2007? Will it lead to the studios going "dual format" with their hi-def disc releases?
If your news turns out to be accurate, there's nothing for me to see that helps one of the two formats survive anymore than the current situation, where MOST of the studios have decided to support Blu-ray only.

If this is true, and he has never let me down before or gave me reason to think he is full of s**t, this is kinda good news for everyone.
If this happens then I will lose all hope in Toshiba, I'd rather they just gave up then slowley phase towards blu-ray which is what I can only see happening if they release a duel format player.

Well, the thing is he didn't go into great detail other than to say they would be making a dual format player. To me this is just rumor until Toshiba announces otherwise, however according to him this is their plans. Frankly I don't want to see Toshiba surrender by making a dual format player, I would rather they stick to HD-DVD or just tuck tail and go Blu, but it would be nice to have the company whom backed HD-DVD make a dual unit, that actually works, not too mention having the phenomenal upconvert that Toshiba has as a bonus.
What a slap it would be to Sony if Toshiba did do it and perfected BR in the process.

Hendrix, you should give DjfunkmasterG a break IMO. Sure he's a format fanboy with enough emotional investment in a playback format to make up rumors, which I can't frankly understand. I mean, anyone into film to that extent I would think would be duel format in order to not miss anything. This format devotion thing still confounds me.
But I have to respect someone like Gary who saves up his money with his daytime job, and then blows it on an attempt at making a movie. Even if he says it's only a hobby, I bet he put his heart and soul into even this modest first attempt. Regardless if he becomes rich and famous someday, he's into creating things, and that's more than what I can say for 99% of the population I know.
What do you mean you cannot put your heart and soul into a 'hobby'? That's the problem with most people, by not putting their 'heart and soul' into what they do, it makes it worthless, heartless, and souless...even work, you need to actually like what you do, or else, get out...

Now that's more like it Dj - excellent observation and very good comments above. So Toshiba could make a great-quality dual player, perhaps lower-priced than the LG unit, maybe about $599, and then steal player sales from the other BR manufacturers. This is certainly possible!
Now I see your thinking. That increased Toshiba dual-format player sales might translate into continued HD-DVD software support by the studios (and some going to dual-format support)... hmmm (maybe, but doubtful)

DJFunkMasterG,
I Live in Baltimore, and evrytime there is a movie made here it's funny to see the places that you know so well on film. Like The Wire, Homicide, Enemy of the State, and all the John Waters movies.

unfortunately Tony, my budgets don't give that much freedom. For Deadlands I had to shut down a 4 lane highway in Gaithersburg to shoot a traffic Jam scene. The City of B-more wouldn't let me do it there, so i had to substitute it with a road out in G-burg. Luckily with Trapped I know the owners of a ten theater cineplex so I get to go in at night and shoot until they open the next morning. If I didn't have the theater I wouldn't have done the movie. Ironically, it is the same theater that played Deadlands for me theatrically... although the film is not really worthy of a theatrical release, it did get one and did ok.
Trapped will get a theatrical release as well, but the owners now have 6 theaters 1 in De. 2 in PA and 3 in MD so I get a three state release this time. I hope people enjoy picking out some of the landmarks I put into this new film. With Deadlands I wanted to do the harbor and federal hill, which I did, but Trapped I wanna do much more.
