It's better than paying Warner Bros $500 million to go bluray exclusive isn't it?

Funstuff you know they got paid so nice try. There are multiple articles that say so. In fact Warner was going to go HD DVD exclusive and turned down Sony TWICE before accepting the final offer of $500 million.

Quote:
According to a trusted source that was close to the negotiations, Warner and FOX were working on a deal to go Exclusive to HD DVD as recent as last week. Our source tells us that Warner was only willing to go to HD DVD if FOX would go with them. Their thinking was if they just went to HD DVD by themselves, it would not end the format war. Early this week FOX was paid an undisclosed amount to remain exclusive to Blu-ray. With the FOX deal falling through, Warner had no choice but to accept the BDA’s $500 Million offer to go Blu-ray exclusive. We do wonder if FOX was just playing the HD DVD side, while having no intentions of ever switching.

Falcon01, you're actually making HD DVD look bad with this post ... it's first reminding everyone that Paramount was paid off to go red.

I then checked out the HDD link and saw it was the President of Warner Home Entertainment that said there was no payoff ... I'm pretty sure I'll believe that guy before some "unnamed source".

I think we just need to accept that Warner went Blu ... and that HD DVD is gonna die ... I'm not gonna support a format with <25% of the Studios putting movies out on it ... simple as that.

I would really like to know how Toshiba will promote HD DVD with very little help in Studio support. 2.7 million is a lot just to state in a 30 second ad that they have cheaper players.

My idea of this ad would have 3 drunken frogs, each one sitting on the Toshiba A3, A30, and A35 like they were lily pads in a swamp. Than to promote the HD DVD slogan the frogs will belch out the name, “HD DVD - CHEAP - ERRR.” Hopefully if there is still time left for the ad, I would have Donkey from Shrek run and dive into the swamp, knocking the frogs off their players. Donkey would raise his head from out of the water saying, "it's the look and sound of perfect."

Probably not worth 2.7 million. GO GIANTS!!!

If you honestly believe that ANY studio went exclusive without pay then you're just ignorant.

The movie studios are fleecing Toshiba and Sony.

Lets face it guys, paramount would have been payed to go red, and yes warner would have been payed to go blue... it's called business. These companys are out to make money, and without some sort of incentive they would just be neutral and get as much profit possible.

Warner thought that by accepting $500 million, it was better than not accepting anything when HD DVD lost the war...prove me wrong! (it sounds sooooo Deal or No Deal)

So again, if Warner hadn't accepted, HD DVD lost, they would've gotten nothing...
