I watched the whole Super Bowl... and I didn't even see this ad? I did get some local commercials which is odd... did anyone else watching see localized commercials? I'm just curious. And I believe this commercial wasn't that good anyway, my favorite was the dorito one with the giant rat.

Yeah, I too have to confess I never saw the Toshiba commercial and I also got plenty of local commercials. I pretty much thought the commercials this year for SB were lame. It has to be one of the worst years I've seen for ads. I found it was funnier watching the Terminator beat the crap out of the football robot between ads.

what a horrible ad. hd has learned nothing and this is why they're destined to lose.

From what I understand about SUPER BOWL advertising...

The $2.7 million is for an ad that airs nationally, in every major market. However, there are many 15 and 30-second spots sold for local, regional viewing only, and these ads run about $250,000 - and perhaps Toshiba did just a few regional "buys" for their HD-DVD SuperBowl ad.

I heard that Presidential candidate Barack Obama did the same thing, purchasing several $250,000 spots in 24 states (mainly tomorrow's Super Tuesday areas), and these ads were never seen nationally.

Hendrix that makes sense. If Toshiba paid 2.7 mill for an ad that wasn't seen nationally they have reason to be VERY pissed.
