Yeah, I too have to confess I never saw the Toshiba commercial and I also got plenty of local commercials. I pretty much thought the commercials this year for SB were lame. It has to be one of the worst years I've seen for ads. I found it was funnier watching the Terminator beat the crap out of the football robot between ads.

View profile »The $2.7 million is for an ad that airs nationally, in every major market. However, there are many 15 and 30-second spots sold for local, regional viewing only, and these ads run about $250,000 - and perhaps Toshiba did just a few regional "buys" for their HD-DVD SuperBowl ad.
I heard that Presidential candidate Barack Obama did the same thing, purchasing several $250,000 spots in 24 states (mainly tomorrow's Super Tuesday areas), and these ads were never seen nationally.
