My choice would be either Denon or Onkyo.

Depends on what your needs are. By your list, it looks like you're interested in video processing. The pioneer video processing I know is based around the Faroudja, but for audio DACs I don't know. If any of the others have Realta HQV inside at a similar price range, I'd definitely go for that instead. A little further down the scale would be the Reon-VX.
This is what I did when I selected my receiver. I made a list of the features I wanted, and gave them an importance rating of 1 to 10. Then I basically measured how each receiver would meet the needs of what was most important to me. All the receivers may offer video processing, but perhaps that's not important to you AT ALL. So in my case I rated that a zero, so that the influence of video chip set had no bearing on the final score.
I know it's work, but when you're spending over $1,000 on an AVR, it pays to ensure you get the feature-set that's most important to you.
I should also mention that a couple of your receivers mentioned have Ethernet ports and allow
your receiver to become a media server. If this is important, check out the file formats each supports and the number of PCs you can network to it.
BTW, it looks like you'll not find a receiver in your price range with Realta HQV. You'd have to step up to the Denon AVR-5308CI which probably costs a bit more than what most people want to spend on receivers these days.

The good is that the Onkyo mentioned has the Reon HQV. The bad if you were looking for it is no networking or HD radio support. But I agree Onkyo makes a great product, although the older recievers had a user-interface that sucked. My old Onkyo DS 777 is still working like new and powers our bedroom setup.
