I've never been to the Philippines, but when I was young my dad had a personal friend who lived for a time in Quezon City, which I think is somewhere not far from Manila, but I could be mistaken.

I even motivated you to Google a simple insult. You should listen and actually learn about the country if you're interested in it though. Guys there often refer to male Americans as "Joe", but there's no ill-intent in it. It's what you would call a "default" name used from Davao to Tuguegarao.

And no, of course you don't have to speak in Tagalog, nor did I suggest it. This is an English speaking board, which is why I provided an English translation of my Tagalog in the same post. But I left one little detail out of the story about how I got my first VHS for free in the English translation. You'll never know since I won't tell you because it's a bit weird.

Luckily there are no other Tagalog speakers here, or I'd be in big trouble!
