Hello everyone...

One of the websites I occasionally purchase discs from here in the USA, XploitedCinema.com, has a sale on some of the import HD-DVD discs. Specifically the UK-British releases, which I noticed tonight are now lower than the French releases. These are "region-free" discs (not locked) and playable on any HD-DVD player.

A couple sci-fi favorites of notable interest...

TOTAL RECALL - $21.95
(usually $40)

T2 - extended Director's Cut - $21.95 (usually $40)

Note: you may want to visit the site's other HD-DVD and Blu-ray selections. 1408 was recently released on both formats, if interested. You can expect fast service from the folks at XC - I've ordered 4 times now and always received my order within a week (sometimes sooner).

Hope you consider adding these to your collection - enjoy!

Nice find Hendrix. I'm waiting for both Underworld movies to go on sale but that may not happen.

Thanks Hendrix! I actually ordered Terminator 2 French yesterday, and it's backordered until mid-February. I just went and picked up the UK one and Total Recall instead for roughly the same price! It's like I got Total Recall for FREE!

I'll also second Hendrix's praise about XC. I'm in Canada and so far, I've ordered Reservoir Dogs and Bug. They came in the mail quickly and I didn't even have to pay duty or anything. Kudos to XC's customer service and shipping practices!

Nice update Movielover316... I, too, heard on AVS the past week about this other forthcoming SpEd HD-DVD release of T2, with all of the great bonus features included on the Deluxe LaserDisc box set (of the 1990s), and also the original SpEd DVD release from several years ago.

But... it's going to cost much more than the $21.95 of the Director's Cut above. With shipping, I bet you'll have to pay around $50 to $60 for this upcoming SpEd set.

Movielover316... in addition to those specs above, this forthcoming special edition will include the rare "You Could Be Mine" music video from Guns 'N Roses - before now only included on the original LaserDisc box set of many years ago. It's just an OK video, but still needed for completists of course.

hoodaguy... I'm glad everything worked out for you on these titles!

Falcon... yeah, I know what you mean, as I was able to get both Underworld ($14/BOGO deal), and Underworld Evolution ($10/Fry's BOGO deal) on Blu-ray, and the A/V quality is fantastic. No doubt the HD-DVD versions are great too, just higher-priced (which is usual for most imports). Hopefully, there will a forthcoming sale on these, and the RAMBO discs too... and maybe the FANTASTIC FOUR too... lots of great HD-DVD imports to consider for those collecting.

Yeah, that's going to be pricey. And will the menus be in English or German? I suspect German, so that might take playing around with it...

When the disc loads up you'll be able to pick your menu language. English is an option Also no forced German Subtitles.

Edit: Yeah I know it'll cost more. Most people are reporting about 40 dollars (after the exchange rate) for preorder off of Amazon Germany. However it's one of my favorite movies of all time and I never had the pleasure of owning the Laser Disc so the Extras will be all new to me. So to me it's worth the premium. If this version wasn't coming out I'd snap up the UK edition.
