damn it... If I only waited one more day... I just bought one on Ebay, for $81 + shipping total = $111. At least I bought it new, with King Kong. I miss out on the five movies though... I bought it to dismantle it for my PC. My other xbox drive quit the other day.

You can do that? I thought that you could just plug it to the PC and DL a driver to make it work on it. How do you make it work for the PC? I want to get one for mine too.

Since it plugs into the 360 with a USB cable wouldn't it just be easier to plug it into your PC?

I dare say, they are trying to make HD-DVD more accessible. That's IMHO a smart move.

Its actually quite simple. The back rounded edge of the drive cover comes off with a butter knife or flat head screw driver. Once the cover is off, you will need a torxs screwdrive to remove three screws. Once that is done the hinged side opens and away you go. Inside is a HD DVD rom drive with a usb board. Once the drive is removed you will notice a unconvential plug. It is a mini ide connection that you would find a laptop would use. Any computer store will carry a 50 pin adaptor to convert that input to a standard ide/power hook up for your pc. (5 or 6 bucks) Re-boot your machine and presto!!! XP SP2 should have the drivers, same goes for Vista. It will work in a mac as well, but you need software... oops, NAY. If not you will be able to find them on the net... That's how I got mine the first time. But as far as I know microsoft make windows drivers... The drive will show up as a Toshiba SD-802a drive... Have fun!!!

ReaggieP, that's interesting. How would that solution compare to buying and HD DVD internal drive for the computer instead? Most of those internal HD DVD players already come with PowerDVD Ultra or something like that, so I guess that has to be factored into the price as well.

I'm thinking that instead of getting a second player for the bedroom, I could just outfit a PC with an HD DVD player and use TVersity to bit stream it downstairs through the PS3. Then I can move the HD DVD player in the HT room upstairs to the bedroom. Of course, wifi won't cut it for that purpose, so I'd have to do the cabling earlier than I would have hoped.

lol. Yeah cabling will help your cause... HD DVD ROM Are still pricey, and all the software I need is still free. Worst case scenario is that I still have the USB CHASIS for maybe Blu-Ray through the XBOX? lol Only kidding... But there is a patch for the 360 now, I could dump a 80Gb laptop HD in the usb chasis!!! I'm going to try it... hmmm The drivers for the usb are still xbox oriented, it shouldn't really matter whats inside the box... hmm interesting... Never thought of that before...
