View profile »Just think, by being patient until the "hi-def disc format war" eventually ends with a clear winner, Tim will have saved much money as by then he will get a fully functional, low-cost player, with all of the profiles working. Yes, I know HD-DVD is like this -RIGHT NOW-, but if Blu-ray ends up being the winner (looks that way), Tim will be able to get a player that's up-to-date on the profiles, and probably for under $300 (or even $200). Probably a PANASONIC.

Your comment was like a ray of light from heaven. When I first started posting here TIM would get on my very nerves, but over time I realized that that's just him and roll with the punches because lord knows I tried to give him back everything that he trew at me. But back to MovieLover's comments, I found that after you find youself repeating the same thing or engaging in the same arguement over and over and over again, it starts to get old. That's why I try to keep my responses in a thread to two. Anything more than that then you find yourself trying to convince someone of something that they are dead set on the opposite. That's waisted time and energy, but I do like responding to non format war issues. As far as TIM goes, well he seems to be an DVDTOWN instituion.

View profile »While I love my A1 (and I don't mind the 1 minute load times - those Blu-ray trolls look like idiots talking about 'how fast' a PS3 loads the disc, big deal) - I understand that the newer Toshiba players offer 1080p/24 output capability, and my new Pioneer KURO plasma allows a 1080p/24 signal to be input NATIVELY, without having to use 3:2 pulldown (so it will be a pure signal in 1080p/24, before conversion to the set's native resolution). Pioneer applies the 24fps to a 72hz signal (24x3, for better stability), so my 50" KURO 768p plasma will convert the 1080p/24 to 768p/72. And with no additional processing away from the native signal being output from the player.
But this feature wasn't available with the A1, so I like how the new Toshiba players give this option for viewing the discs. (My PS3 does it too by the way).
