I hope that the site's administrators realize that the Sony/Blu-ray shills and trolls have basically scared away longtime posters such as Josh (aka Night Creature), Jason Vargo, and even John Puccio, who used to post with much more regularity than during the past six months. Tim Raynor is the only long-time visitor putting up a fierce fight against lies. In my opinion, Tim has done more moderating than the moderators.

Hats off to you, Tim. I especially liked the "TennisRichardHead" joke.

Agreed, three cheers for Tim. Most of us who began posting here did so to have intelligent discussions of movies. Now even when someone tries to start a thread about anything other then Blu-Ray or HD-DVD it's quickly buried under a avalanche of shill and troll threads.

Unfortunately, sometimes an increase in traffic means a decrease in the quality of the traffic.

Good thing Tim is hear to fight the good fight. At least when he's properly liquored up.

By the way, Eddie, I told you you'd be back.

And we've all learned that Tim is very sharp when it comes to computers - an "IT" specialist I believe.

Just think, by being patient until the "hi-def disc format war" eventually ends with a clear winner, Tim will have saved much money as by then he will get a fully functional, low-cost player, with all of the profiles working. Yes, I know HD-DVD is like this -RIGHT NOW-, but if Blu-ray ends up being the winner (looks that way), Tim will be able to get a player that's up-to-date on the profiles, and probably for under $300 (or even $200). Probably a PANASONIC.

Good point LH, I personally was going to wait until there was a winner but after I bought my HDTV I was in the Market for a good upverting player. The store I was working at put the A1 on clearance because they were bringing in the A2. I paid 80 dollars after my discount. So it was an offer I couldn't pass up.

Keep up the good work Tim!

I know that I have not been here as long as you guys, but MovieLover said,

Your comment was like a ray of light from heaven. When I first started posting here TIM would get on my very nerves, but over time I realized that that's just him and roll with the punches because lord knows I tried to give him back everything that he trew at me. But back to MovieLover's comments, I found that after you find youself repeating the same thing or engaging in the same arguement over and over and over again, it starts to get old. That's why I try to keep my responses in a thread to two. Anything more than that then you find yourself trying to convince someone of something that they are dead set on the opposite. That's waisted time and energy, but I do like responding to non format war issues. As far as TIM goes, well he seems to be an DVDTOWN instituion.

Hey Movielover316... yeah, I'm still in the market for another HD-DVD player (to go along with my classic Toshiba A1). I want one as a 'back up' unit, and am just waiting for a new "free movie" (many discs) promo to come out again (maybe Sunday's newspaper ads?).

While I love my A1 (and I don't mind the 1 minute load times - those Blu-ray trolls look like idiots talking about 'how fast' a PS3 loads the disc, big deal) - I understand that the newer Toshiba players offer 1080p/24 output capability, and my new Pioneer KURO plasma allows a 1080p/24 signal to be input NATIVELY, without having to use 3:2 pulldown (so it will be a pure signal in 1080p/24, before conversion to the set's native resolution). Pioneer applies the 24fps to a 72hz signal (24x3, for better stability), so my 50" KURO 768p plasma will convert the 1080p/24 to 768p/72. And with no additional processing away from the native signal being output from the player.

But this feature wasn't available with the A1, so I like how the new Toshiba players give this option for viewing the discs. (My PS3 does it too by the way).

Wow, I've been fighting so much in the other thread with TennisRichardHead that I didn't even notice this thread! You guys are ALL AWESOME! I couldn't be the fun-ass without all the rest of you. We really are a decent group of people, but sometimes we all need to fight the good fight.

Thanks so much for the love! And Eddie, it's good to have you back, god knows I can use the help fighting the troll morons. lol

Cris, what is life without a little Jim Beam? lol
