Gangs of New York

I really really want to own this movie on Blu-Ray! They have released it overseas but not here (US)!

What the hell! It's Gangs of "New York" not UK!

Anyone else feel me on this???

Well, I don't much care for any HD format, but I find the current edition sufficient myself. I watch it because I think Day-Lewis' performance is absolutely fabulous, but I think the film itself is a clunky, poorly written mess, personally.

One of the Blu-ray.com movie reviewers was selling his import copy on that forum a few days ago, and I was very tempted to get it, but someone else had assured me that it was in fact region locked. So, I would have waisted $35 for a movie I can't play. No thanks. I badly want to get this movie in high-def because Daniel Day Lewis' performance in that movie is one of the greatest I've ever seen.

YES, according to BlurayRegionCodes.com, it's 'locked' (not region-free). Most of the Region B and C releases are NOT locked (and viewable worldwide), but many distributed by Fox (and a few others) are indeed locked. What's strange is that a few Fox BDs from overseas are region-free... ?
