LH, I love the LPCM tracks, and even though it's been said that when the DTHD track is decoded it's the exactly same as the LPCM version. When I play The Fifth Element's LPCM track my PS3 says it's running at 4.6 Mbps while the DTHD track ranges between 2.3 an 4.6 Mbps. I've heard that this is from the way that the DTHD tracks are compressed. Instead of having for example:

LPCM Track:010100011011101001101

DTHD takes out the 0's when compressed so it looks like this.

DTHD track:_1_1____11_111_1__11_1

When the DTHD is decoded it looks like this:

DTHD Track:010100011011101001101

Identical to the LPCM track.

Therefore they are the same, but here's my dilemma, there seems to be more of a full sound with LPCM than DTHD. Can you tell the difference between the two, or is it just my imagination?

I would say just your imagination...
Really when you think about it...if you have to listen that closely to try and figure out which is better....why bother, they're both great and should be identical.
