Does anybody know if MS might come out with a Blu-Ray add-on now that HD-DVD seems to be falling farther behind in this format war? Is that even a possibility? Just a random thought, but I just got my email from Netflix about them axing HD and am suffering some severe buyer's remorse!

M$ will be releasing an XBOX360 Blu Ray add-on the day Sony dumps BD-J for HDi.

If this happens, I'd rather buy a BD player from Microsoft than from Sony. I just can't stand Sony.

Very true. I find a Blu-ray add-on drive very unlikely. The reason they did the HD DVD drive was that the software that drives the format (HDi) was done by Microsoft. To support Blu-ray they would have to implement Java and the BD software platform. Not something you just do.

I'd wager that the "next gen" MS Console WILL have Blu Ray out of the box...what do y'all think? Heck, the way things are the new consoles should be here within the next 3 years, tops.

That is likely if the next generation consoles doesn't drop the optical drive all together.

Perhaps, a external drive can be bought to rip your old games to new consoles hard drive. A lot can happen two - three years.

I think it'll be awhile before we see the console market drop optical media all together. Maybe some other form of high capacity media, but likely not Blu-Ray as it is an expensive medium right now. But as you said, two or three years is a long time in this industry. I keep hearing people say how HD DVD will win in the data market. Meaning I guess that HD DVD optical drives and media will overshadow Blu-Ray in that area. But I don't think that'll happen either, as publishers are just now getting over their fear of regular DVD media for the masses to put games on and such. They seem to think regular DVD drives aren't as prevalent as they are. I guess we'll see though.
