Try waiting 6 months for a CAT scan or some other kind of 'minor' surgery....and you can forget about trying to find a family doctor....get on the waiting list....ahhhh free health care.

Pfft . . . Yeah, as if it's all that different here. With HMOs and Insurance company's telling us what treatment's they will cover, the days of a family doctor are long gone. A friend of mine has gone through Thyroid Cancer and he, too, had to wait 6 months before he could get an MRI, so don't get the impression we have it made down here.

I agree with Tim, our healthcare system is just as bad. I had two angioplasties in 2006 and the insurance only wanted to pay for one saying the one in the main artery was not needed... Sure, the main artery not needing to be unblocked... what a bunch of wankers. Anyway, I took it to arbitration and won.

I have a PPO and it is no better than an HMO.

1. Hillary: Not in a million years! The woman strikes me as evil (as in the fru-its of the de-vil) . She seems like she's out for revenge (against men, maybe?), and when she smiles, it looks like the most un-natural thing she's ever done in her life.

I'm all for a woman president some day, but NOT Hillary. I'll never vote for someone that gives me the chills from head to toe. In my personal opinion, if Hillary is elected by some strange twist of fate, she'll do far more damage to this country than good.

i agree that race will be a big issue in the general election--and not because obama is "black".

obama's mother was white. he was raised by his white relatives because his father wasn't really ever around. yet, the guy attends a church led by someone who frequently preaches black separatism.

what's going on here?

i'm still voting for nader. loverboy, jeb bush is waiting for your write-in vote.

Tony... funny about the [Mary] 'Carey' vs 'Bush' line.

Eddie, it's just not Jeb's "time"... yet.

And Eddie, check out the DVD of that new anti-Michael Moore film, MANUFACTURING DISSENT - and see how bad he was to Nader (if you haven't seen it already).

mmm.... the most i ever had to wait for an MRI here in aus is three days...... we have free-ish healthcare, we just pay the left over bits, which our health-insurance covers....
Not all of australia is the same, but if i'm sick, i get in to see a doctor that day, some rare instances, immediately, we still have our family doctor's in medical centre's so that helps. But even in emergency rooms at hospitals i've never had to wait longer then an hour.
Last year i had a really bad cough and the doctors couldn't work out what it was..... once they decided where to go from there i was sheduled for surgery the next day (fair enough it wasn't major, but i was still knocked out etc. and i had to travel 300 km's for it, but was reimburst for petrol money and accomodation before and after)
Our health care system does have its problems..... mainly just with elective surgery waiting lists, but if your sick, you get straight in........ and its soon to get better, with the south australian government planning to redevelope our many public hospitals, and building a new state of the art 'super hospital', complete with environmentally friendly architecture lol, as well as our countless private hospitals always being upgraded, and the federal government is also going to be taking more responsibility for health-care..... (not this years budget though, we need a 15 billion surplus to help curb inflation)

Hey kryjam91,

Boy, That all makes me wish I lived there! How can I become an Auzzie? lol

I love Australian's because I feel they have similarities with the US -- we were both booted from the UK and had to make the best of things. In my lifetime, I've partied with a few Auzzies and they are wonderful, fun spirited people. And yes, a couple of them I got to know can put my Jack Daniels consumption to shame! LOL

Even during Summer Olympics, if the US is doing crap, I always root on Australia! You guys rock in my book. Nice to have you around the DVDTOWN forms. I hope to see you stick around.

Tim.

Good God Love, don't give me nightmares! Hopefully that NEVER happens! I think the US can do without another Bush Dynasty.
