I'm actually a heavy HD-DVD supporter who has an interest in The Blu. I own the Add-On and a growing number of HD Titles. Hell... you could have checked out my Collection by my name and found out that I was an HD supporter.
I'm glad they didn't add it in the final product because it would have bounced the price up in the PS3 area. Maybe not DIRECTLY in the PS3 area but it would be close. I would not have paid 600+ For my Elite. Instead they decided to tone it back to make for better competition. A lower priced console sells more... as we all know and have found out. Well... at least when we're talking about video games anyway. For the most part.

Most people with Xboxes have either supported HD DVD or they use the Xbox movie download service to download their HD movies. I do both.

Seriously, if Blu Ray wins why would people keep buying an xbox when they can get a game system and a hi def player in one for the same cost.

I was especting this to happen, me and four other friends bough ps3 for movie playback only, and it is being spread online that is the only blu player worth getting. sony is oging to have to do something about that. lol
I have have both sys, and both formats. agree with you fellas, 360 better gaming experience. and everyone keeps acting like MS should have included the drive to save HDDVD. Toshiba Stunk... bad... when it came to taking care of bussiness with HDDVD period. MS wasent gonna save anything. All they cared was for HDi... nothing more lol, enough with this evil empire crap.
You kidding? Xbox Live. Rules! GAMES! loaded with Arcade games. Movie downloads.. wait let me stop, this is gay. lol

PS3 outsells the 360 for 1 month and the Blu-Boys are acting like its a huge thing. Now if Sony can keep beating 360 at the current Ratio it will only take 205 months to catch up
The only way PS3 can ever even beat the total number of 360's out there before the next generation of systems comes out is to start selling 150k more a month then the 360.

I do recall reports of Toshiba wanting Microsoft to add it into a console at one point of time however... I think it was around last July.

Ummm, yeah, what he said. lol
Seriously, I know people with both and there just isn't much use for the PS3 as a game console. Hands down it's the only real future proof and somewhat affordable (in the cheap versions) Blu-ray player. I almost bought one for that reason alone but I can't justify a $400 game system just to watch movies on.

Yeah its a great deal at 399 but think about how much money they are losing. There is a reason they are able to sell it for 399 and no other company (samsung, LG, etc) can get their prices down around 399 and because its too expensive.
As of Jan 08' Sony is selling PS3's at cost. They are not losing money. Unlike TOSHIBA who is losing a fortune. As far as other CE companies go, why do you think Toshiba is the only CE company that makes HDDVD players, because they set the price so low that it's not profitable for other CE companies to produce HDDVD players. Take a look at how many CE companies produce blu ray players, the list grows every month or so. There is money to be made. that's why I find it so funny when early adaptors of HDDVD say that blu ray is too expensive, knowing full well that they paid around $400 and $500 bucks for players.

I might wanna see where you read that about them selling it at cost because I find that hard to believe. But other CE companies cant keep up with sony either. They are getting beat out by a game console. Sony is dominating it just like Toshiba is, without a console...a standalone, preferred by many
