Apparently you missed what I said about 6 posts ago. Anyway, I'm not repeating myself.
I saw your post. I'm just saying that if I'm going to be spending $400-$500 on a player, I expect value for my money. I want good-quality upconversion for my standard DVDs, and 1.1 compliancy since I am going to be paying for the special features when I buy a Blu-Ray disc.

Sounds like somebody needs to take their own advice... I am asking serious questions, and all you're doing is dodging them with uninformative comments.
Oh, and my username isn't "p-ness" either...

I actually bought my BDP9000 for $220 brand new on Ebay, and I've been using it for about 9 months now. I am very happy with it since I've already watched about 180-190 movies in that span. I got all the mileage I needed out of it, and I'll be giving it to my parents soon. I'm just about ready to upgrade to a new player, and I have my eyes set on either the Panasonic DMP-BD50 or the Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD. They're both impressive spec wise.

Think of it this way. Let's say Fox and WB went HD DVD and Blu-Ray lost the war. Would stores stop selling the PlayStation 3? Of course not.
This is what is bugging me more than anything. I can understand that HD DVD lost the format war, but for stores to stop selling their players is baffling. It's like they think they only play HD DVDs and nothing more, which is a completely false perception.
Well, Sony paid a lot for that perception. I think Karl Rove is their advertising chief. Spread enough lies , filter in enough truth, and people believe everything you say. Someone said on some other board how this has not gotten a consumer protection issue brought about as all the story posts tend to be fabrications beforehand, lead to a downturn in sales, and bring about a reality after the fact. THAT is a dishonest sales tactic. Really, prefer the pluses of Blu Ray if you must, but they've done some pretty ass things to get on top...FAR more than HD-DVD.

Gosh, you're so right, because mr. p-ness (fantastically mature name, BTW) certainly does.

Calling someone a jackass because they have a differing opinion than you is very mature indeed.
