So... I kind of want to get Forbidden planet...and I was wondering how the transfer was and if it is worth it. Any help would be ... well... helpful.

Mike37... have you read the DVDTOWN Review?

I rented this HD-DVD, and it's outstanding. Includes some great bonus features, awesome documentary about sci-fi films, and a bonus B/W complete film, starring Robbie the robot.

Honestly? I haven't seen it since I was a kid... I remember it looking pretty well and such.

But Tim... I know your the joker her but... can I have a little seriousness in this thread? Just a smidgen?

EDIT:

LH, I usually stay way from Reviews... Just... I don't have the proper attention span. Either way, thank you very much!

GET IT! I had it on HD-DVD b4 I went Blu. I can't wait for it to go Blu. I will buy it again!

It looked great and has a TON OF EXTRAS! I got the Deluxe Edition with a little Robby and metal case. I kept the Case, Robby, the lobby cards and sold the HD-DVD that was enclosed in the tin box.

I own this one on HD DVD, and I say HIGHLY recommended. Although due to its age the transfer obviously has some rough edges, Anne Francis has never looked so hot on home video before this!

Thank you Bowfiend and Skyhawk!

John, I also stay away from Reviews because I like films and such to be fresh for me. I don't really want to know anything about the plot other then what I have read or heard in Promo's.
