If it is true that Wal Mart will no longer carry HD DVDs, then there can be no doubt that the war is over.

Their selection and prices of both HD DVD and Blu Ray always sucked, the only Blu Ray player that they even stock on a regular basis is the PS3, and I see them selling far more PS3 Games than movies.
The average Wally World customer is not going to walk in and plunk down $499 for a stand alone Blu player anyway.
The Wally World defection is a moot point, unless you are a Blu Gamer...
PS3's are First and Formost sold as "Game Consoles", Blu Games should not be counted as Blu Movies are, simply because they are both considered Blu Ray discs.
Does 3.5 million sold copies of Unreal Tournament 4 win a Movie Format War????
Uh, and the K-Mart across the street is HD DVD exclusive other than the PS3 GAME CONSOLE.

Completely different topics there...
This is very different. You could maybe argue that the HD DVD camp could get through this if many other unfortunate events had not happened. Toshiba is done Im sure. Theyre probably sick of being the only manufacturer, and this was just the last straw. Expect to see an announcement of Toshiba ending HD DVD support soon, and HD DVD support from everyone everywhere being ended.

I'm not diluting myself into thinking HD DVD has much of a chance anymore, but come on! Wal-Mart!?! I have never bought an HD movie at Wal-Mart - I've looked, and their selection and prices are garbage. Best Buy is a much bigger blow than Wal-Mart. If Best Buy said they would no longer carry HD DVD, that would be huge. The fact that they are recommending Blu means... nothing, since they always have. They've always had arrangements with the Blu camp to push their products. Plus, I learned a long time ago to do my research before making a big purchase at Best Buy or Future Shop, because I haven't met a salesperson yet who wasn't completely clueless. I always end up telling them about their products. Anyway, Wal-Mart going Blu exclusive has virtually no impact on the war, other than being another article for Blu trolls to post in 18 000 different threads.
