God, I am so sick of hearing "HD-DVD is COMPLETE"
You're right: Only not the way you think...
another definition of COMPLETE:
Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1) - Cite This Source - Share This
com·plete /kəmˈplit/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[kuhm-pleet] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation adjective, verb, -plet·ed, -plet·ing.
2. finished ended concluded: a complete orbit.

Well I'm sick of hearing 1.1 profile being called the final spec when there is 2.0.

I believe 1.1 is the FINAL mandated spec. BD-Live is optional for CE manufacturers, I think? I could be wrong here...

From Wikipedia:
SH - you are correct.

Feature[62] BD-Video (Grace Period Profile – Profile 1.0) Bonus View (Final Standard Profile – Profile 1.1) BD-Live (Profile 2.0)
SH - you are correct.

Maybe it's just me, but FINAL usually comes at the end. That's all I'm saying. It's confusing to consumers, they should have chosen better descriptions.

Technically, there is no "end". Features will evolve and continue to improve, and likely studios and CE manufacturers will continue to experiment with advanced features and new uses for content. The last thing these CE companies want is for all their players to become commoditized - especially so early in the format's life. They want to differentiate their products, and offer something better over the years in the hope that consumers will upgrade or switch company brands - just like CD and DVD did.
Mike: BD-Live = Profile 2.0 = Live Internet Content

Toshiba plans to continue selling HD DVD equipment at stores for the time being but will not put resources into developing new devices, NHK said.
What if that was what the announcement is going to be. The fact that there's really no more development needed for there machines because they are COMPLETE so they are going to now spend there money on advertising and push the sale of the HD DVD players and HD DVDs.
I just thought it was weird that this rumor came after a new firmeware update and WB saying that there will still be instances when they would make HD DVDs. Just wishful thinking that's all.

As a format HD DVD is complete. As in it's market ready. Blu ray currently is not. Sounds like you're upset about that for some reason. Oh, and the definition you used actually doesn't make sense in the context you used it in.
