HD DVD has another defection on its hands, though it’s not making headlines on national cable news.

Adult video producer Digital Playground had been releasing a majority of its high-def titles on HD DVD. However, it confirmed Feb. 15 that all future high-def titles would be on Blu-ray Disc.

This is actually old news. The announcement that Digital Playground is going Blu exclusive happened back on January 12th.

No, on January 12th they said they wouldn't be HD DVD exclusive anymore and would start releasing titles on Blu-ray as well. But really, who cares either way?

That's right, it wasn't about exclusivity then. And you're also right about no one caring now.

The Porn industry supporting Blu-ray exclusively is actually huge news. Compared to the Walmart move, however, it did get second place.

Uh, what is the ratio of DVD P0rn sales compared to Internet P0rn subscriptions???

Probably just a Drop in The Bucket, but that doesn't sound quite right when you are talking about P0rn, does it????

Back in the days of limited Internet content for J6P single guy without the one hand on the keyboard option, I'd agree. But today? And although I'm only speaking for myself here, the entire idea of porn on HD gives me the creepies. Being able to count the freckles on Lindy Lohan's body in "I know who killed me" on Blu-ray was traumatic enough for me. I still have nightmares.

Whether or not you want to see that much detail is certainly a reasonable question to ask, but, as the porn industry carries so much financial weight, it's influence is definitely worth noting.
