Trek set was pushed back from a rumored March 25 (IIRC) date to sometime in the summer.

Dang randy that is pretty cruel, but in all seriousness, that does suck really bad man, but don't fret, I am sure they will all be on BR in time for Christmas 2008.Plus you can recoup at least some money on the 1st season, so it will help you get the BR versions, and who knows, they may have some extra content being that there is MORE space on BR disc's. I cannot wait till these Seasons come out myself, along with the films. (well the first 4 films at least...)

Don't count on it! They released all the content they wanted to just fine on HD DVD. Besides, all that extra space on Blu-ray needs to be used up in order to "fake" the picture in picture features native to HD DVD.

But in your favor, I am hoping the Blu-ray release would be cheaper since it would not be a combo disc as was the HD DVD set. But then again the combo HD DVDs are traditionally priced the same as basic Blu-ray discs. What a mess this whole thing turned out to be!

I'm not only concerned on Star Trek but in all future releases from here 'till May! I was reading an article linked in one of the posts here and a section made a lot of sense: If Toshiba were to announce tomorrow that the war is over and they're pulling the plug, then the studios might be released de facto from their contracts/deals to release new movies, even WB. If that's the case, we might not even see new HD-DVD's as early as March.

Which would mean no Bee Movie, Bonnie and Clyde, Twister, I am Legend, and many other titles slated to be released in teh next few months. Perhaps that't why WB is delaying the HD-DVD releases three weeks after the SD-DVD/BD releases of movies. To buy itself time to be able to scrap the titles in case the war ended before the WB's contract May deadline.

I'm not posting any Blu ray instigating reports or rumors, but those of you with Star Trek on HD-DVD might be interested in this article. I'm not posting this as news or anything else. It is just an article from a great website (www.tvshowsondvd.com)

Well I am sure we will know more tomorrow, but I truely think that HD DVD movies will be around at least until the end of the year. Thats just my opinion, and no I have no facts to back it up.

My set had a playback issue, and since I bought it at Costco, they took it back and gave me my money. I'm glad I held off, though I was temped often. Same with BSG.
Though I think there may be a delay as HD-DVD was a combo, so they covered both audiences. On Blu, they'll need to manufacture both an SD and a HD version. More costs to produce. So they may also be more expensive than the HD-DVD sets purely on economics. We'll just have to see.
