I honestly think we'll be fine with HD-DVD releases announced for Feb and March. Simple because those discs are already pressed and ready to go. It doesn't make much sense to dump them in a land fill. When you can sell at least some of them. Things that have been announced for much later however. Well I wouldn't count on them.

On Blu, they'll need to manufacture both an SD and a HD version. More costs to produce. So they may also be more expensive than the HD-DVD sets purely on economics. We'll just have to see.
I don't quite see how the "need" to manufacture two different sets is going to drive the Blu Ray price up. If anything, because the discs won't be flippers (ie. combos) the price will be lower. I'm sure the BDA will want to start getting Universal and Paramount titles out on the format just as soon as humanly possible.

crap I just realized no BSG season 2 on HD-DVD. Which is OK I guess since Universal used to awful packaging on the first set.

Man this reminds me of a Heavyweight fight where the fighter about to be knocked out has a great chin, and wont go down, but sooner or later, he take take anymore hits, and just crumbles. Even though I am cheering for Red to make a comeback, he is just to beat up to make it any furtherr.

They'll need to produce two versions now. Two different production lines, both with likely smaller yields. Typically, this means they'll cost more. May not, and I'm not saying it will, but it may. For all I know, it already cost double to make the flipper versions for HD-DVD
