Hello gents.. looking for some input.
I wanna get the Onkyo 705 receiver. we all know ill need some speakers. I dont feel like buying them separate, or mix matching, just want like a good all around surround sound. I was even considering getting onkyo speakers... but the ones i see on amazon come with a receiver... but i cant tell which version of the receiver those come with... does onkyo just sell speakers separate or what?
Please share some imput/ what you think / what you have with your receivers.

Well first and foremost, never mix and match your speakers. Speakers should be timbre matched otherwise it will sound off and not quite right.

Depends on how much you want to spend, I have the same receiver and got the Polk Audio 705 set, and a couple of Sony Towers, to make it a 7.1 system, plus I ordered 6 sets of banana plugs and 2 spools of 14 gauge speaker wire, all on Amazon for under $1000.
If price is no object, get the Paradigm system. If you can spend 2K look at the Axiom speakers on their website http://www.axiomaudio.com/. These always get good reviews and you can pick the wood grain/grille's etc.
Klipsch also makes a good system for $1500. If you need something small go with the Mirage Nano system for $1400.
I am ordering the Polk Audio RTiA5's next month, I only got the Sony's as a quick fix, but also to use them in my basement/gameroom set up I needed some new front speakers. I also have some older Polk floor speakers that still sound amazing. Whatever you do, get a 7.1 set up, it compliments the 705 AMAZINGLY.

I like the Mirage NANOSAT, since im more interested in something small. but its only a 5.1 set. so i guess i would have to get two additional ones

Yeah, I almost got the Mirage system, the extra speakers were $149.99 each, or lower. The set of Polks I did get I stole them for $239.99, the list price is $699. Cerwin Vega makes an awesome surround system for $999, but you can get it on Amazon for about $600, I almost bought that system as well, but could not pass up those Polks for 240 bucks shipped!!
EDIT: CRUTCHFIELD had the Nanosat system on sale for $599 IIRC.

If you want a complete matched set that will not break your pocket book and will sound great, check out http://www.fluance.com they have a 5.1 package and you can add the matching bi-polar surround speakers for the side and rear center and sub. The initial price on the 5.1 is $199 and it goes from there. Myself and several friends are using them and couldn't be happier.

a lot of times you can buy a 5.1 speaker setup and purchase the two you need for 7.1 separately. You'll need to check with the manufacturer but a lot of times they'll have timbre matched speakers to expand your set.
FYI Kuco if you don't have a large room, I wouldn't waste the money on a 7.1 set.

Go Klipsch. BB sells the synergy line, which isn't bad, and they sound great! I moved in reference last year, and wow what a difference!

Would highly recommend Definitive Technology if your primary listening will be movies or their soundtracks. I have friends with B&W as well as Klipsch and when they want to truly experience a movie with the floor literally vibrating they come over. But then I'm using 4 Definitive Towers and you're looking for small speakers? I've heard excellent music reproduction from small speakers but for movies I've yet to hear a small speaker convey what a well designed tower can produce.
