Still the hands down best transfer I've seen on ANY HD disk is Hot Fuzz. I know its HD-DVD, but my god is that thing clear. Ratatouille is great, but the thing that gets me on CGI movies is they already look incredible as they're generated by computers so high def is almost overkill. I'm much more stunned by seeing realistic shots looking sparkling. POTC 2 was pretty spiffy (though I'm less fond of 3's pq). Lost was pretty damn stunning, too, and a good benchmark of quality for HD presentation.
and, of course, you have Planet Earth. On any format, that's frakking brilliance.

My local store had an offer with 2 free movies so I picked up Apocalypto and Pan's Labyrinth with the player. Yes, I am now converted by the Blu Side of the Force.

I have Cars on SDVD and my PS3 unconversion makes it look pretty darn good. I don't own many BD but my favorite is the Fifth Element:Remastered.

Hey Tony, if you really want a true reference quality movie that's also great then pick up Apocalypto. That is id you don't already have it of course. You will definitely not regret it.

gvortex, that was going to be my next post. What do people use as reference material. I have Chicken Little (LOL my 7 yr old's movie, but for a kids movie it packs alot of LFE punch) and the picture and LPCM track running thru my ONKYO is amazing.

You can also try these:
Crank
The Messengers
Mr. Brooks
Live Free or Die Hard
The Guardian
They're all reference quality for both audio and video. They'll blow your mind. Movie values are a different story. They vary from decent to excellent.

Crank is on my list to pick up sometime soon, but with DeepDiscount's HD blowout I put it on hold.
Im kinda holding off to see if they put out a new version (perhaps the international one) when it gets close to Crank 2's release
