Um, it would be the TREKKIES,

Paramount owns the Star Trek franchise.

Ever go to a "TREKKIE" convention???

They buy EVERYTHING TREK.

Just have William Shatner start doing HD DVD commercials and this war might be tilted the other way.

Toshiba was developing their TL51 disc so they could include a Lossless Klingon Audio track for all of Paramount's releases.

tlhIngan maH!

I think it was Paramount that sought out Toshiba, instead of Toshiba seeking out Paramount.

Lionsgate was the winner!!! They were nobody's until Blu-Ray came along. 85% of their movies still suck.

I bet if they were HD exclusive then you'd like a lot of there movies. I little less than a fifth of my Bly-ray collection is from Lionsgate, so I think they have a lot of good titles.

I agree that Lionsgate has some very good titles. They also will take a chance on 'independent' films for distribution, often buying the rights from anxious filmmakers at various film festivals.

Remember, the company over the years has made some significant catalog aquisitions, like Trimark, Artisan, LIVE Entertainment (etc). According to Wikipedia's info on LIONSGATE, they now have the 2nd LARGEST DVD CATALOG!
