Are they still going to be releasing the profile 1.1 compatible (out of the box) player that is supposed to start at $599 USD? Just wondering because I plan to buy it...

Lets hope so, or at least hope they are too far along to scrap it. I think dual format options going forward are essential so that over one million HD DVD owners aren't left hung out to dry.

Wow, thats crazy over one million and counting dedicated HD DVD Spartans versus close to 10 million Blu Ray Persians. Still can't wait til Tuesday for American Gangster. I finished paying all my bills tonight just so I can see how much money to spend on HD DVD this week and the next for Beowulf.

It seems like a combo player with BD 1.1 support would be able to update to BD 2.0 considering HD DVD always had a NIC and supported downloads.
