> FYI - was browsing Amazon's site tonight, and a company named Echo Bridge Home Entertainment is releasing several new Blu-ray editions of movies and TV shows in April ($13.95 MSRP, with $8.95 Amazon's sale price) - Link to TITLES include...
-10.5 Apocalypse/Complete Miniseries (2006)
-Curse Of King Tut's Tomb/Complete Miniseries (2006)
-The Last Sentinel (2007)
-Category 7: The End of the World (2005)
-Blackbeard (2006)
-Artie Lange's Beer League (2006)
[same film as the Warner release]
...more to come?
Also, for music fans (like myself), the deluxe 2-disc, recent Blu-ray release of CELINE DION-Live in Las Vegas is now on sale for just $15.95 (which I purchased today). When you wait a little, the price always falls.

I wonder if these will be standard definition on Blu-ray.
It'll be nice to have a little variety, anyhow.

Huh? Have there been any "SD" releases on either HI-DEF format? All of those titles are RECENT FILMED PRODUCTIONS, so I don't see how they would only be in 'standard' definition, and on a Blu-ray disc at that!

Hey IB... Yeah, BEERFEST has already been released once on Blu-ray (and HD-DVD) by Warner (January 2007). I'll have to rent it.

Everyone... the more I think about these new releases, at discount prices and what it means, is this...
The Warner announcement (for Blu-ray exclusivity) was 6 weeks ago now, and it's the general opinion that this basically 'ended' the format war (and also with WalMart and others falling into line). So, forthcoming releases on Blu-ray are going to be more prevalent now that there is to be only ONE major hi-def disc format in the marketplace.
And companies like Echo are definitely not wasting any time in getting out of the 'starting gate' with some new HD content, at lower prices, than what we've seen so far. I can easily see even more of these lesser-known content distributors bringing their catalogs to Blu-ray in due time.
Remember, most of these companies make their profits from home-video DISC SALES, and now that Blu-ray is the apparent de facto "hi-def" disc format of choice, it's time to bring HD versions of other titles to market (along with their standard DVD counterparts).
