Hey I googled Toshiba news, and this poped up on the ummm Reuters site(not my favorite news source) It said Toshibas shares jumped 5% and analyst applauded Toshiba for their expected move to abandon HD DVD.
Go to the site and read it for yourself.
THE END (cue the BLAK ROSE)

No problem hood, I just wanted to be the first HD DVD supporter to break the news. See I am not a sore looser after all. Like may Dad always said, if you have no control over the situation, GIVE IT UP!!!

Reuters is so full of crap. I saw the same news on CNN.com and "one strategist at a Tokyo brokerage said a withdrawal from HD DVD business would be positive for Toshiba as a signal of its willingness to take a tough but quick decision to renew its business focus elsewhere rather that staying in a losing battle." Which is quiet different as "cheering" for Toshiba giving up.
Press in general can be so bias in order to draw attention to their editorial. Shameful.

No prob. I just made that other post sarcastically, but it blew up to all that.
I just thought that since I was attacked on the other thread, that I would take the blame for that story too.
(btw I realize that you don't have "sour grapes", but I had sour grapes myself after I went HD-DVD at first, but on 1/4's WBs decision, I went blu)

Its just amazing with all their studio support. They truly came with the big guns this time around. They've been prepared since the early nineties while buying Columbia/Tristar and MGM and brainwashing all the studios, manufacturers, and majority of the early adopters. Even some of my friends that are tech savvy are braindead and say that it is superior. I always tell them that it is not superior, just yet. It may be some time in about a year or two compared to DVD. I'm saying this because one of my friends/co-worker bought a PS3 Bundle at launch a year ago for around $800. He then kept praising the system and saying that it had such promising things coming out and amazing games like Metal Gear 4 and currently Warhawk exclusively. I asked him so you bought it for those few games. Nope he said he bought it for the Blu Ray player. I then thought this guy must have a huge Sony or Samsung LCD............Nope he had an 80 pound, 27", Cathode Ray Tube standard TV. I suddenly lost all respect for this guy, LOL.
