Microsoft just believed the better format would win...but it didn't. Doesn't matter for Xbox 360 owners who don't have the addon. I do hope HD DVD will keep existing... =/ It's simply better.

Those of us who work in Information Technology know that HD-DVD is superior. That's why Microsoft is going to include an HD-DVD player in the Xbox 720.

I think your right for software sales at least but I'm sure that pesky Nintendo DS would prove us both wrong on both hardware and software, as for as the main consoles ya probably right.

Translation "We didn't put a HD-DVD drive in the 360 so this doesn't impact us at all."

Ya know Reg. I've been a wii owner for over a year now. I must admit that I am heavily disappointed with the system. Now, I've not invested in Mario Galaxy and I will say that Zelda: Twilight Princess was a really great game.

However, the novelty of the wii remote has long warn off and its only saving grace (for me) is GH3 which is multi-platform.

I'm looking forward to the new Mario Kart that's coming out (probably gonna have to buy a bunch of steering wheels) and a few games here and there.

But as a whole, I don't think the Wii was aimed at my market (30 something dad). My kids love the system and would be happy to create mii's for hours all day long and eventually when they get better coordinated (3 and 2 year olds I'm talking here) I'm sure they will have a blast with it.

Now, I know that Nintendo has a good share of the market and I can't believe that the console price isn't a MAJOR factor in this.

To end my post here, I'm not going to say that PS3 or XBOX is the way to go, but I will say that if you are looking at an alternative to the above two systems, the wii is not really and option (get yourself a good gaming PC). Again, not trying to bash the wii, it just isn't really geared to my tastes in games.

I don't understand why everybody's so upset at Microsoft over not bundling the HD drive. They didn't want to tie their gaming console's future to an unproven format. Sony made a huge bet in doing so. They've cornered the Blu-ray player market while Microsoft has owned them in the gaming console arena. It is simply what they were going after. Sony had market domination with the PS2 and pretty much took it for granted. Yes, Microsoft could have pushed the format more but let's be honest. They're a software company not a movie studio.

I think that in the end Microsoft not supporting an HD DVD drive in at least one of their xbox consoles is gonna back fire, many people are gonna buy the best/cheapest Blu players which happens to be the PS3 (Im one of them) plus finally some good ps3 exclusives are coming. once that price tag comes down to 299 which is the rumor I'm sure that 2008 will be the year the PS3 plays catch up.
