Well, Target has an ad for a $40 gift card with purchase of a $399 PS3 today...so it's almost like paying only $359 for anyone interested. This was in the Santa Rosa, CA store.

theres no way in hell im buying a ps3 just to watch movies, this is where people who want standalones are gonna either get raped on a sa that actually does what the hd dvd players do ie complete interactive functionality without this greyed out crap, or if they make an addon for the bd on the 360

I had a Wii for about 5 months - then I ebay'ed it. The novelty as noted above, does wear off. The games aren't in hi-def, nor is the sound in surround. The graphics on my 50" TV looked like they were from SuperNintendo.

Downloading the ancient games was fun for looking back -- for a little while - but in the end I never used the Wii... It's selling because it's cheap - and - because when people go to someone's house and use it for a couple hours it seems great... Not so great once you've had your own for a couple months.

Some people don't like to buy the PS3 as the sole movie player. But for me, I bought it mainly for viewing movies and not playing games (I am not a gamer).

However, though it is not a sole movie player, I treat it much like a media center. It is very convenient to copy photos, movies and songs to the harddrive and I can view them anytime I want. And it can play media files directly from USB devices or memory cards in good performance.

And the most amazing feature is its photo album! Just copy the photos and it will show them in a very beautiful and lively way and it is very good when I want to share photos with my friends.

I totally feel what's you're saying. I love what the PS3 represents and will get one very soon as well, but I do believe that for the most part you're preaching to the choir here. Not a lot of open ears for these kinds of things around here.
