...hold on to you tighty whities tomorrow after the press conference. They will be flying!!
As if they weren't already.
The story will likely be up here in threads, several hours before it's officially posted as a headline - you know they've all got their coffee pots set to brew so they can be up all night!

I'm only sorry I won't get to see the press conference live. This isn't history changing news, but I tend to miss out on all the important "live" news for various reasons. Oh well, I'll be on at 8:30 tomorrow, probably to a full e-mail box.

The Digital bits editor Bill Hunt is a Fully Paid Blu Shill and has been for quite a long while, just take a brief review of his site and you will realize he has been Insanely Blu Biased from the start.
Don't take anything you read there as fair and honest.
I take some offense to this. I've visited Mr. Hunt's site for almost 10 years. I've enjoyed his reviews and information long before there was a HD DVD vs. Blu debate. I found DVDtown only recently while I was doing a search for online cataloging of titles. I liked this site, thought I could contribute in the message boards and signed up.
I digress, what about his information is inacurate? Do you mean to say that their isn't going to be a press release tomorrow?
Or is it that the information regarding the Star Trek series is not fair?
To the first, I say you only have to wait a few more hours...to the second..well I guess you can wait for an official announcement for that as well.
I'll tell you this much, I'm a PS3 owner and I'm enjoying the movies that I have on it. If Toshiba announces tomorrow that they have figured out a way pull all the studio support to their side, I'll flop sides in a hot minuite..and I'll enjoy every minute of it. In the end I only want to watch movies in the highest quality possible and I think both formats offer that..
I hope the end is near.

ReaggieP... FYI - let's remember that the money that came out of consumers pockets $UPPORTED Blu-ray media more than HD-DVD media.

You can't collect money, until the advertising started... Advertising creates sales...

ReaggieP... yeah, and which format has the HIGHER SALES to date?...
see, in your list of what 'killed' HD-DVD, you never mentioned the fact that Blu-ray media outsold HD-DVD media, which is consumer choice, and not just because the buyers were hypnotized by fancy advertising (LOL).
I know I wasn't. My reason for dual adoption (and everyone here has heard this many times before now!)... CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT.
Content is POWER (and Blu-ray has it). Combine that 'power' with consumer sales, and there's your reason for what 'killed' HD-DVD, unfortunately (for those not being a dual-adopter).
You don't need a 'survey' to understand this.

Content, Content...
A lot of people for HD used to talk about the internet content of HD and the Ucontrol abilities but the people for BD said they didn't care about that and just wanted to watch the movie!?
HD movies look the same as BD movies. Most people that actually compared the two side by side said that BD might have a teeny advantage in sound.

Why should you be offended? The accusation was directed at Bill Hunt and not yourself. I could go at length at the inaccurate FUD he has perpetuated against HD DVD and give embarrassing examples of the unprofessional fanboyism that caused it. But, what's the point at this stage? He did very little to influence the outcome. We all have our opinion, and while I have no reason to believe he was a shill, he gave HD DVD supporters just cause to dislike him as much as they do.

Dr. Mindfuque says: "It is simply a manifestation of self accusation based on the Blu-shillerisms being thrown about...quite simply translated: he felt as though his own supposedly subtle shilling was being exposed."

Well, I'm mostly offended that an editor I've respected for a good while was called a Shill (not really sure what that is .. but I'm quite positive it's derogatory).
Not too stray too far off topic, but he makes it quite clear that he and his site are pro blu, and I would certainly understand that a red supporter would feel slighted by some of the site's comments. With that said, I've seen little in the way of FUD.
I've only payed attention to the format war since late December about the time they declared their allegiance to the blu format. I'll dig through the site since his articles are all archived..I realize it doesn't make much difference/sense now, but I would be a bit disappointed to find that the site contributed to false information and I defended it. If that is indeed the case, then I retract all comments.
With that said, good luck RED, and again..if the announcement is "We got all the studios", then I'll be at BB/CC/Target to pick up a HD DVD before they can raise the prices..(not to say that they would..just trying to emphasize my lack of allegiance..which is actually blu..but only because I think it is inevitable).

Therefore I'm forced to reiterate what I said before, maybe I should clarify it for you again. False Hype(Great advertising strategy from the Blue Ray Camp, Which ULTIMATELY CREATES SALES) Manufacture support (This includes Hardware and Software , Your SO-CALLED CONTENT ARGUMENT), and last one CATCH THIS, Retail Backing for Blu-Ray(Capturing BB and others in boardroom meeting?)...
No when I first posted this, don't you think I thought of all of these reasons? These are the THREE core "business decisions" That put Blu-Ray where it is today. Someone or somebody in an office or boardroom came up with these decision to sway sucess in their favor...Hey it worked!!!
Their Business model worked? Do you have any business education in your background?
Geeze did anyone take Grade 7 social studies? Remember the "Spinning jenny"

And that war took place in the 1700's
